    • I fail to ascertain how anyone can argue that global warming is not an issue. I reckon that this will be a trend over the next hundred years or so wherein you have coastal towns and villages forced to relocate further inland. Florida, the clock is ticking.

    • Shishmaref might not look like much, but the loss of culture there is striking. Drastic changes arrived long before global warming became the hot topic --- modernization struck the first blow at the subsistence culture that had persisted here for thousands of years. But global warming and its friends, sea level rise and sea ice melt, are providing the death blow.

      A small Inuit village of 500, or a remote South Pacific island of 1000 may not strike you as a significant loss. But that misses the point. Where will we be in 20 years?
