Men who carry the BRCA 1 or BRCA 2 Gene have a risk of developing breast cancer...though the chance is still 1% or less.

    • I am BRCA1 positive and my brother is about to get tested too this year. The gene mutation can increase prostate cancer significantly. Men with a history of breast and/or ovarian cancer in their family should speak to a GP about getting tested. If you have the gene, you have a 50/50 chance of passing it on to your children. Its better to have the knowledge - screening of embryos for the BRCA1/BRCA2 genes is now available - there are options out there.
