I too found this a very inspiring piece but it's concerning to read the comments about how people see this as filled with "conviction" and being "hard core." These two aren't behaving as saints by denying themselves to the common consumerist day to day motions. It seemed to me that the couple found it pleasurable to play a roll in all the aspects of their day. Tending the garden, repairing the house, pedaling the bikes, finding the food; instead of taking the quickest and most impersonal way of perpetuating the things they daily used they took care into every decision and were actually a part of their process of making it happen, not just the customer at the end of the line. They considered their values, their feelings about their actions, and their impact in their community. That doesn't sound extreme to me, that sounds mindful.

Incredible! The world would be in such a better place if we all gave at least 25% of what Suzanna and Ryan give. I wish I had their drive, commitment, and conviction.

It's great to know that there are people out there trying to make the world a better place in their own way... Thanks for putting together a thoughtful piece!

I can't believe you got a house for $40,000! Thats £20,000! No-one in the UK can get a house for anywhere NEAR that price, no matter how bad it is!
2 Bedrooms in Whitechapel London? 1million dollars please!
