Hartmann and Papantonio on Leonardo DiCaprio's "The 11th Hour..."

blueplanet
Two of my favorite people discussing Leonardo DiCaprio's new documentary. This movie is a must-see and takes a somewhat more urgent angle toward global warming and what we need to do about it..great discussion topic and two worthy voices starting us off..

    • for the sake of the hypothetical.....

what if Gore's Inconvenient Truth had only had a limited showing, and then scuffled to DVD?

I am willing to bet we would be in a different place than we are now. That flick was one of the most influential of all time and continues to be. (and not a moment too soon)

    • you would think. Actually. his part is very small in this ( visually). It is very much a "talking head" kind of movie and I think they felt many audiences would not take well with watching people sitting and talking to the camera. It is also the straight-up reality of what is happening to the planet. I think they also know general audiences have a hard time taking that in. CurrentTV admits that very point here. THey want to tell the story if they can keep it kinda "light." Don't want to scare the kids. This Goes back to what I think is so sad about where the media has taken us. The fact that we can not sit and listen to some of the top thinkers talk about an issue that effects every living being says a very sad thing about us.

    • It had a very limited showing. Something of an experiment I think. It was a fantastic movie and many great thinkers and speakers in it. Thom is, by far, one of my heros of communication and creating dialogue. thanks for the link to this interview. will go watch now...
