Dirty Laundry

joshsoskin
In the midst of the global environmental crisis, the US is the single largest contributor to global warming. We need to start doing the little things to save the planet...like hanging our laundry. this is one of the cultural differences I've noticed as an American living abroad in Spain and it inspired to make this short.

    • Beautifully executed pod that draws a profound statement about Americans. I myself have hand wash my own clothes ever since I learned it from my mom, being an American and asking others do they do the same they happen to stare at me in a perplexed way and, of course, answer "no." One is not able to change the habits of others, it is them that have to change it themselves. This pod creates one more step into having those people, hopefully change. Thanks.

    • This pod is so gorgeous, insightful, and sweet. I love the colorful shots and the music was perfect setting the pace of the pod. It's nice to see a bit of your life in Barcelona. Miss you Josh!

    • Gorgeous. Intimate. And I love that we get a glimpse into your life.

I have a clothes line out back. I promise to start using it as soon as spring is here.

    • I loved the images and composition. The pacing really pulled it all together. The whole thing conveyed a solid message that wasn't rushed.

    • Josh,

Thanks for this beautiful video. Whatever you're filming it with works. A little heavy on the guitar, but a great idea to share how we can learn from each other - even in small ways how to save the planet. Don't give up now.

    • Nice piece Josh! It reminds me growing up in Ireland, where my Mum still says "there's great drying out today" and people don't think she's nuts.

    • Joshy! I loved it - it so reminded me of home (Pakistan), where we also do the same thing. One of the things I loved as a child was going to the backyard or balcony and bringing in the clothes from the laundry line...to this day, there is a certain nostalgia i feel anytime I see clothes hanging off an apartment balcony. Thanks SO much capturing these happy memories for me.

    • Simple, beautiful, poetic. I love this piece. You often feel that we have it all too well and life is moving too fast here. You travel abroad and come back. It seems easy to re-assimilate back into american society, however much you want to hold on to that feeling you had when you were away. This piece brought that feeling back for a bit. Thanks Josh and welcome back.

    • You helped to invent the current in-house Current network style--much in need of a facelift--and are now developing a fresh new style. Thanks for innovating a new genre from your life in Spain. Sincere, personal, poetic, brief, useful.

    • Nice Josh. I dried my laundry on a line when I was living in France. Winter was brutal though, with the clothes still wet after 4 days.

I make a lot of efforts in other areas, can I keep my dryer? Please?
