    • While I'm new to this site and I don't know too much as far as video quality goes, I have to disagree with Cove with respect to the suggestion that you use pictures of beaches, temples, etc. at the beginning of the pod. This video shows a part of Thailand that isn't commonly seen by people outside of Thailand, or even by most tourists (farang), since most of them go to the beaches and temples they assume are there. Also, Chiang Mai, while beautiful in its own right, is not near any of the beaches commonly seen on postcards. I like that you accurately portray the parts of Chiang Mai that you focused on in this piece, and I'm afraid that including stereotypical images would be misleading.

      Thank you for this clip!

    • What about starting the pod showing some images that people might think of when they think of Thailand? The beach or temples or something. Whatever pictures you might have.

You could use the music that comes in at 1:44 and then fade to your voice intro?

As a side note, I wish you had some stumps or obvious clear cut shots to illustrate what you're saying about deforestation, not just shots from the train.

Thanks again, and if I'm not helping, just ignore me. :-)Cove

    • Elephant dung paper, bleached with hydrogen peroxide none the less, I love it. Some American paper makers could learn from these guys. Many US paper mills still use highly toxic chlorine bleach to whiten their paper. Read the label before you buy. If it doesn't say non-chlorine process, and it's white, you can assume it's dangerous to the environment and unhealthy for your family. Don't buy it.

Deforestation is a world wide problem. Annually renewable plants are well known and many are of much higher quality for paper than traditional wood pulp fibers. They produce a product that is both earth friendly and superior to traditional paper. When Thailand can get their "shit" together, and we can't, "Houston we have a problem!"

Lisa, I can't decide if the beginning is too abrupt or not. That was my first impression, but when watching again, it seems o.k. I think if there was some background noise, it might help. 4:14 into the pod, you subtitle your question, even though your voice is highly legible. There is already a lot of reading in this pod and I don't think this additional bit adds anything to your story.

You did a great job, and this is a definite Greenlight. However, about 3/4 of the way through this, it almost felt like I was watching a different pod. What I mean is if you ended with the elephant painting, using her own paper, that would have been a nice short pod with a strong ending. Also, I think the Panda part could stand on its own. I love the ending, "If only breeding Panda's was as easy as making paper!"
Maybe, I'm wrong, but I think it should be two pieces. Or, somehow be tied together more. You could try to mix it up by introducing the Pandas earlier and maybe some of the elephant info could be pushed back?

In any case, thanks for taking us to Thailand and teaching us something. Are the dung beetles o.k. with this?
