Candidates to debate on Science issues?

The growing movement to host a presidential debate focused on science has reached a new milestone. The organizers of Science Debate 2008 have set a date, April 18, and a venue, the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia.

With the details firm, the remaining presidential candidates Democrats Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton along with Republicans John McCain and Mike Huckabee, have been sent and received their invitations. There is no word yet on which candidates plan to attend.

Now this sounds like a really good idea since a lot of the issues that fall under Science seem to go without word said in the regular debates.

    • BEAUTIFUL! Questions about three of the most undervalued topics on the campaign trail, Global Warming, Stem Cell research, and undoubtedly education in relation to falling math and science scores. Undoubtedly the candidates would not atend such a debate uless circumstances remain as they are with McCain fighting for conservative support in the general election and Hillary and Obama locked in a dead heat. Otherwise such a debate would likely be embarasing considering how little each candidate has done to aleviate these conditions despite their positions of power.

    • This is a fantastic idea. Finally, issues such as stem cell research, evolution education, and climate change may get a chance to get their day in the sun.

Now, if only the candidates will actually accept. My vote? Not likely.

Let's hope they prove me wrong.
