"Crime against the natural world is a sin," says Bartholomew I, leader of more than 300 million Orthodox Christians worldwide. "The Green Patriarch" has thrown his weight behind various international environmental causes, and urges leaders of other faiths to raise environmental awareness among their believers. The winner of both the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal and the Sophie Prize for leadership in environmental protection and sustainable development, Bartholomew I takes his "fisher of men" duty seriously: In 2003, he brought together 200 scientists, political leaders, and journalists on a cruise ship in the Baltic Sea to discuss marine preservation and the hazards of overfishing. "To protect the oceans is to do God's work," he says. "To harm them, even if we are ignorant of the harm we cause, is to diminish His divine creation."

Looks like we owe to thank them for the gesture and action but still a lot to be done as the "old boy of oil and noise" still pretending that he is deaf and still in power and screwing up millions of people daily. Thanks for the news "leahl!"

well its a good thing our corporacratic leaders don't buy stock in all that religious mumbo jumbo. Otherwise we wouldn't have all these shiny things to consume and throw away. Our globally esteemed president said it best when he said...liberty = consumption...so go out buying more crap and show us how "free" you are...of course I'm paraphrasing but while I'm posting on my alternate shill ego...I take pride in those wise, comforting statements. Besides isn't the old saying....the world is our oyster...shuck it...lol
To say that corporacrats have destroyed the environment is unpatriotic...besides..what are ya...some sorta "eco-terrorist" or something....
bow to my superior shill'ness
