    • Oh, I agree.. I think the numbers are much higher now. But the point of posting it was to illustrate how ignored this important crisis is in our world on the whole. People who have water flowing from their taps don't even seem to care about the more then one billion people without clean water or no water at all. So yes, they continue to water their lawns, fill their large pools, take their long showers, wash their expensive cars, and drink their bottled water as if we are so privileged in this world simply because we live in America...however, scientists report that by 2013 Lake Mead will be close to being gone ... the Great Lakes are going down...the Colorado no longer flows to the sea... the U.S. from the lower Southeast to the Northwest is experiening pervasive drought that is leading to legislative disputes, disputes with corporations looking to bottle the water left to make a profit, and threats of border disputes such as what is happening between Tennessee and Georgia. And of course, the American media covers NONE of it. So once again when the s&&& hits the fan many will be caught off guard and unprepared and ripe for the taking by water companies looking to have it all...seems to be the American way in this land where consumption is the new religion.

    • i think that quiz's #s were outdated or weakly conservative...
but i know enough to know that in my town it's practically a cardinal sin to not have a nice green lawn. you can even get a ticket! Even though our community neighbors down in denver have weak water restrictions (they tell you what days you can water your lawn)...here it is open season for the sprinkler timers...
yep...proud to be a Consumerican! We are much more superior to everyone else in the world...our purchasing power, golf courses, and consumption proves it!

The graph at this link showing American consumption of water is obscene. We really have become a selfish wasteful people.
