Hallelujah
I have finally made progress with my own family. They have finally started reading the site http://www.askapatient.com and are taking themselves off Fosamax and some of the other drugs
I beg you to study the site carefully and consider doing the same.
Below is the email sent to them. Maybe this will help your friends and family if you send it to them.

It is almost as though we are re-learning Newton's law of motion.
For every action, there is an opposite but equal reaction.
The reason our ancestors had less heart disease but ate fatty foods along with biscuits and bread baked with lard is that the average American at the turn of the 20th century WALKED about 120 MILES a week.
It was much easier and quicker to walk a mile and a half to visit a neighbor or to go to the store than to saddle and unsaddle your horse or to fool with hooking up the buggy.
Exercise is a wonder drug.
Thank you, Carolyn.

sgwhites...you are right that you need to investigate.
I am glad that I have an Integrative MD who is affiliated with Dr. Andrew Weil MD
http://www.drweil.com/
They are trained medical doctors there but have an additional training in Integrative Health.
People should encourage their doctors to look into this training program if they haven't already. - 4 years ago

I would be much more concerned with the FDA approving drugs with a minimum of testing than with the doctors who prescribe them under the impression that the drug is safe.

While you certainly should do your due diligence and investigate any medications, doctors are the experts--if you have concerns you should raise them with your physician. Simply disregarding a doctor's advice or discontinuing a medication on your own could have an adverse effect on your health.
