charlesanthony, you've entirely missed my point, which, in a way, entirely proves my point. I have nothing against the Bible. I read it too, but I don't get hung up on it... better to listen to the present Word of the Living God inside your heart and mind. Besides. there are many great books that are inspired by God...The world is millions, if not billions of years old. It has evolved and is evolving, as man has and is evolving...and causing the evolution to take a certain path...much the same as God has caused and attempts to cause this world and it's inhabitants to take a certain path...without force... using only the power of persuation...and yes, you can save your soul by opening your mind...
The direction of our future should not be in the hands of fools...as it is now...soon to change though...
Question: why has the number 7 always been associated with the planet earth?

to plato tacius... it may never occur to man today ... but in 1892 it was noticed that the average temp had dropped about -2 degrees ... Oh my the so called intellectuals of the day thought ... there is another ice age comming we are all going to freeze to death.
Then around 1920 the average was thought to be one half degree higher ... so the prevailing wind of thought blew the other direction ... it is gonna get super hot ya know out of control...
In 1956 again the average changed back and a super
freeze headed out in a collision course with the destiny of all mankind...But in 1984 the schollars noted that the average had some how shifted back to the warmer trend before and that is where we are now. Wasting time resources and money on what ?? The earth is warming from the flood... which is when the earth was covered with the ice packs / sheets that cause much if not all of the geology that we see on earth today. Mount Everest did not even exist at the time of creation... but was pushed up when the underground water chambers erupted under massive pressure... soaring some 15-20 miles from the then surface. Upon returning (due to the force of gravity) the water became super cooled (super cooled ice is magnetic) laying down ice deep and cold enough to freeze the mammoths. The earth must continue to warm ... although 250 year cycles warmer vs cooler are evident. Again the earth must continue to warm and then stabilize where plant life can cover 95 percent of the planet again. There had to be ice caps at creation or we would not have polar bears and penguins etc.
you mention books to read ... be careful here if you follow after the wisdom of man. 2 peter 3 ... professing themselves to be wise they became fools.
Try the evolution cruncher ... that will keep you busy for a few weeks maybe months ...
You speak of the Word as a literary work. Ack !! The precious Word of the Lord God Almighty is the authority in this universe ... reguardless of man's trivial gestations ... the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom
Ponder this ... that man engages to save a planet 24,000 miles in diameter... traveling 66,000 miles an hour through the vaccume of space ... how can we save a whole planet when we cant even save our own soul. And some say they dont' need salvation. How funny they make me laugh ... have they not heard how man has based the time of history (his story) on the birth of Christ ... BC before Christ ... AD latin that means the year of our lord.

More trees is good...change is good...where did "...it's all a scam." come from..? A scam for what purpose..?
charlesanthony, you are living in a world of allusion. You should read 'The Earth Chronicles' by Zecharia Sitchen. The first volume is 'The Tweflth Planet'. You might learn something...science DOES have a lot to offer mankind... including the science and knowledge that a more enlightened race of beings, formerly living on this planet, left to us, not only in the Bible, which some people believe is the only book to believe in...but in the many ancient writings that exist in this world today. If you want to give meaning to a present God, then know that the true concept of God or Allah, as is dictated by universal knowledge is far more reaching than the majority of man knows... It is far more reaching than one or two mere literary works...ie, the Bible and the Koran.
The universe awaits those who can envision beyond the limits of a narrow mind...and so too do the many personalities that exist within the concept and the reality of what is God... Why do I bring up God...when this discussion is about climate change..? Because, when the flood comes...there will be those, with narrow minds, that will say God did this to mankind for all his sins. But if you ask God, the voice you hear, if you have enough faith to listen, could be male or female and would say, "we tried to tell you so...just like we told you last time. But you refused to listen. We don't wish any of you any harm, but you bring the harm upon yourselves. You scourge yourselves, because you thrust the sins of the fathers upon the sons...continually reinforcing the vicious cycle of violence and negativity, forcing mankind backward in his evolution."
If hostility and backward thinking could be cast out of mankind's collective mind, perhaps the voice of reason, that comes from the higher plane of existence, could be heard to say, " we love you mankind and we only want to help you to save yourselves from catastrophy and live more rewarding lives...but some of you refuse to even believe in your minds that which your eyes can clearly see. The earth is mighty, but still mindkind's waste is greatly affecting her. She will not cease to exist... this will not be The End... but millions will believe it is when the catastrophy comes and those will likely be the ones who did not believe that such a thing could be possible."
The momentum of what is happening is too great to reverse the effect...still we should stop harmful emmissions. And it is easy to talk about it, but much more difficult to do anything about it...
As for the next major catastrophy being that of fire, believe in whichever book of prophesy you wish, if you must, but don't be surprised when the water washes over you while the fire erupts from below...the voice of reason will still be prevailing upon you from above...
Then...when we all learn to listen and to act...perhaps They will come back to live with us once again...because this Earth can truly be...once again... the non-hostile Paradise that it once was...
...and you will come to know that Creationism and Evolution are, actually, each just a different aspect of the same concept...in the development of mankind.

To Ahna:
Really? Your not getting your data from a temp sensor that is sitting right next to a hug heat source are you?
jhydo, yes we do need a new source of energy but big oil likes there big money. So, it's going to be a slow change. But change is coming. (For the better I hope.)

This is likely the first time EVER in our global industrialized history that humans have placed a monetary value on leaving the natural world just as it is so that it can do the job it is perfectly designed to do. This is Natural Capital at it's finest!
REDD, (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation), aims to provide incentives for developing countries to cut emissions by preserving forests or having better forest management practices.
Part of the idea is based on the concept of providing farmers payments for the carbon storage capacity of their lands, thereby giving them an incentive to preserve forests. - 4 years ago

To Tomcatt:
It's both...global warming and climate change.
Global Warming is an overall warming of the planet, based on average temperature over the entire surface.
Climate Change is changes in regional climate characteristics, including temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind, and severe weather events.
Open your eyes because, fact is, both are happening to an alarming degree.

People, it's not just about which country hasn't sighed Kyoto. The one & only way out of this for the human race is a new kind of INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION. Scientists should now channel their efforts towards reverting from the norm-oil based internal combustion mechanism. The world needs a new, cleaner and sustainable form mechanization for industry if we are to avoid catastrophe. This is not rocket science, it's common sense. No country however powerful can or should dictate to others about development path to adopt.

Climate change? Is that the new catch phrase now? What happened to global warming?
Either way, it's all a scam.

Climate change ... not real bad for humankind ... but real change is eminent ... still warming from when massive ice covered earth after the Bibilical flood. It is true and it happened just like the pages in THE book read. Four thousand four hundered years ago ... (not millions) Noah and wife... three sons and their wifes loaded up onto the ark with two of every kind of animal (more of some for food) ... male and female to replenish the earth. For thirteen months the vessel and its temorary occupants would indure a true world wide catastrophic deludge, violent lightning (due to the collapse of the earth's crust forming the oceans and releasing all the fountians of the great deep. Then as the water returned to earth it became super cooled and formed ice ... this was important because the mantle was closer to the newer crust and Magma came to the surface like never before... the earth need to be cooled. What we see today is nothing to be alarmed about ... the ice melts back because it was never world wide at the beginning of creation. The earth will always stay in check it was made for the benefit of man. Next flood ... fire.

I just can NOT believe that we have seen the greenhouse effect start in 1824 and almost 200 years later our climate is dramatically declining! Scary to think about where we will be in another 100 years! This has got to be a bigger issue as we move forward, not just as individual countries but as the world as a whole.
