" Anhui Province sees 622 new EV71 virus cases; total exceeds 5,100
All kindergartens in Fuyang were ordered to remain closed following the May Day holiday that ended on Saturday, to help prevent the spread of the sometimes fatal virus."
Thats a single region, and only what they have decided to tell the world.

Of course the story broke a late. It happened in China. The Chinese government edits Google. We buy everything from them. Why wouldn't they bury this story?

should a country keep something under wraps for that long. If the chinese are JUST releasing the news of something so bad, what else could they be hiding?

This is the first time I've heard of this. 3000 children is a lot and it's a terrible thing to have happened. I'm not surprised it was kept under wraps as the state-run media always tries to make the country look as good as possible, but I hope more news organizations pick this up.

I don't want to play devil's advocate, but it is extremely suspcious that the breakout was in early March and was only reported now. I feel like this is just another cover-up attempt in hopes to shed a more reputable light on China as the Olympics approach.
