20 mg.

It's final exams week and college students are desperate to cram. They turn to their friends who have access to prescription drugs, like Adderall for attention deficit disorder. Drugs like these are being increasingly used as study drugs at colleges everywhere. At UCLA, it seems like almost everyone has tried it or heard about it. Some students casually distribute their pills to friends. In this pod, students share their experiences and a UCLA psychiatrist tells us why the overuse of these drugs is a problem, whether or not they are prescribed by a medical doctor.

    • I had a dr. who prescribed this to me, I only took it once, it felt like I was going to crawl out of my skin or have a heart attack. The reason he prescribed it to me was that I said I have a hard time concentrating on what I am doing & cant stay on one subject I am talking about. My thoughts go all over the place. I didn't ask for the drug, I kept the bottle for a while & after 5 years of them just sitting there, I threw them away. They are dangerous & it is illegal to "give" someone a pill, it doesnt matter if it was sold or given, it is illegal & you could get busted, plus do you want to be responsible for whatever happens to that person when they ingest that pill? I wouldn't & I would be worried about that. Think about it? & be careful, before you know it, it can be a habit & a dirty one.
