2 Billion Dollars - On Wind Farm!

Image

An interview with billionaire oilman T. Boone Pickens who is sinking billions of dollars into a new wind farm in Texas. It is likely to become the biggest in the world, producing enough power for the equivalent of 1.3 million homes (600 turbines). CNN's Ali Velshi asked the oil legend why he thinks wind could be the answer to this country's energy problems.

    • Really, folks. Pickens is obviously not a tree-hugger, and he will never back a project that won't earn profits for him. But that's precisely why this is good news.

A super-successful big oil American is asserting that rutting bulls like him can make a profit by supporting alternative energy sources. That's important!

Oh, riverdeer. I agree that distributed production of both food and energy would be best. But the initiatives aren't mutually exclusive. Indeed, if a plutocrat like Pickens puts his money where his mouth is in promoting alternative energy production, that gives credibility to little guys who want to do the same thing on a smaller scale.

    • I agree with VoyagerFilms. There were other ways to go, but I'm sure - like abbym0308 has noted - that wind would be the cheapest overall and this man has done his math to get the most profits.

    • I saw a video on this the other day. If this guy could make a buck on selling his body parts, I bet he'd do it. He doesn't care about the environment. He's in it for the cash. It's good to see big plans for sustainable energy, but I'm not completely sold on his motives.

    • I like it, but we, no, WE need decentralized energy more than anything. I prefer solar or similar types that are capable of generating energy at night. Wind mills kill birds, I don't like that but I like wind mills. What about water mills already? The Mississppi flows 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
