    • And worst of all, I hear that redneck soldiers are putting nooses in the living areas of Black GI's. How true it is, I don't know, but since it's a racist war, I wouldn't be surprised.

    • as industry siezed control.....
and the peoples minds were slowly put to sleep by the media ( who would have thought jerry mander was right)
a brave few souls dared to speak out against a corrupt system ... and slowly a movement of people powered information grew.... a universal movement necessitated by the greed of world governments it almost seemed a virtual evolution/ revolution...
how will this story end? will we garner enough folks even capable of seeing past their big screens?
the cost is incalculable really, human and animal impact, ecological impact by more than the burned fossil fuels ( research depleted uranium munitions in the gulf wars), national integrity and honor, national pride, international image, the moral high ground, national unity, the depleted faith of entire generations of people here and abroad ( think on that seriously), and can we discount the disservice we have done to the world vis a vis our helping and encouraging such a shameless thing as terrorism to flourish? what a debt we owe humanity for the countless lives that will be lost by the radicals we gave birth and suckle.

    • Absolutely as appalling as it is CRIMINAL.

Rumsfeld's dismissive "Baloney" answer to the $330 Billion price tag predicted by Iraq War opponents is etched into my memory as an example of the epitome of Rightyland's stupidity-based arrogance and their incurable greed.

    • Investigations should be put on this administration to see if the Bush family might have any financial gain. If so he should be impeached then face trial for all his crimes. He should serve a prison sentence among with the majority, no fluff prisons. And we should see to this. He is taking all of our hard earned money and most importantly time with our families. Stunting the growth of the U.S.'s children.

If he gained or anybody close gained financially with plans set forth by his administration then he should pay for these crimes.

We are all equal in the U.S. No man is above another.

    • As bad as we have it in America now I really feel for the common citizens in Iraq, what is going to happen to them when America leaves? I'd like to think that things would get better but I dont know...

The cost of this war is startling in terms of dollars, but the lives affected all around the world are priceless.

    • and the pentagon was hit, still, although no video has been released of the many that "captured" the moment. just the delay invalidates any future release of such evidence. hidden secrets, sad

Like I said on the McLame interruption thread, here's what I think:

We're fighting the lower class in America (in Iraq).

      It's a transfer of wealth.

They spend all the money, crash the economy, transferring all wealth via taxation to their rich friends (ie: big oil/auto/private contractors/other dirty energy companies etc etc) and also secure more land all with the full willingness of the religious NUTS that think they are setting the stage for "the second coming".

It's just the new CRUSADES mixed with a new form of comfortable DEPRESSION.

Merry Christmas, enjoy that Starbucks and that HD TV, it's gonna cost ya...

    • LIES for PROFITS. PROFITS THAT WENT TO WHICH PPPUPPET MASTERS. NEVER JUST LOOK AT THE PUPPETS. THEY ARE ONLY THE TIP OF THE ICE BERG

      From the article...

We could have had a Marshall Plan to help desperately poor countries, winning the hearts and maybe the minds of Muslim nations now gripped by anti-Americanism. In a world with millions of illiterate children, we could have achieved literacy for all -- for less than the price of a month's combat in Iraq.

      Moyers says it best...

      Diary...

Bill Moyers: "We are in trouble"

Our Constitution is perilously close to being consigned to the valley of the shadow of death, betrayed by a powerful cabal of secrecy-obsessed authoritarians. Terms like "liberty" and "individual freedom" invoked by generations of Americans who battled to widen the 1787 promise to "promote the general welfare" have been perverted to create a government primarily dedicated to the welfare of the state and the political class that runs it.

Signed copy of the book. "Moyers on Democracy"

    • When all is said and done, if it ever truly is, what does the US stand to gain from this insanely expensive war?
What does victory mean, in the long run?
What, exactly, do we win? Security? How?
As far as I can tell, everyone is losing.

    • It's a shame that these statistics aren't more widely known. In our economic state, it would be hard for anyone to not get upset by that post.
