    • I don't get enough sleep. The fact that I am here at 2:22am posting on this thread is testimony of that.

I have to have help to sleep in the form of various different things, comfortable bed, hot tea or warm milk, some cannabis, and a benzodiazipine; oh and a nice warm body next to mine doesn't hurt either.

    • Ciba, Thanks for your testimony! We are all different from each other in regards to our body cycle. I am a night owl and I get a lot of things done at late night. However some nights I am so tired and I want to go sleep early but I cannot as the cab drivers and other vehicles with modified and loud mufflers are pumping their engines by the hundreds out there. Now just imagine falling sick some days with a headache and have to hear Muni shooting their beep signals on you. I love where I live and moving out it is not the solution. The solution is that they must stop polluting! That is the real solution! Therefore I have no alternative but exposing and shaming their ignorant and anti-social behavior.

    • Sleep is so necessary! I can't function on small amounts of sleep. I've had periods of insomnia before with no other reason than I just couldn't sleep or when I did sleep it was not more than just a couple of hours. This went on for almost a month. I tried teas. I tried herbal remedies with no such luck. It was a bad time. I walked about with a muffled brain. Believe me, I never want that to happen again. I can't imagine being kept from my sleep by outside noises. I think I would have gone postal! Stopnoise,I hope you are gaining momentum on your reduction of the noise petition; before someone does go postal!

    • 1989? That was actually a great time! Well depends where you were here in the City. You need to see what inferno it became after 1999! Muni introduced a new fleet of electric buses that acts like an acoustic war tank shooting noise everywhere! A totally absurd! How have you been in your new home? Do you remember those wonderful bus rides in the City where you could seat there and wonder how beautiful you City was? Well, it is over!! Everyone now has been treated as to having an Alzheimer's disease where you cannot remember to "hold on" or to "step out" of the bus without an electronic voice reminding you every 10 sec. to do this and a beep signal every time the bus stop at the bus stop. It is annoying Nuts! Ha! when it is not beeping or talking it is sharp shooting a whistle signal all over. Go watch some of my movies on my profile and you will get it!

    • stopnoise, I used to live in SF ...

I moved to Minnesota when, in 1989, I was rudely made aware that I am not Carol King, and I like not the earth moving under my feet.

      Gah.

    • Many people are blessed to live or work on an environment where they are not disturbed by other people actions during the day or night. The same is not a reality here in San Francisco where our Public Transportation has taken over our home airspace with unwanted signals. The first ones to have a concept of "Airspace" and act on it was the Air Force that started by delimiting distances where foreign Aircraft should enter. The same should be applied at the urban airspace to detain acoustic intruders like Muni, Motorcycles and Cars with modified mufflers. There is a big lie running out there lobbied by the some parts of the Public and Government that people needs to wake up to it, act and stop it. We do not allow animals to be abused, so why should we allow humans to be abused?

    • I don't need a science experiment to tell me that sleep is important. When I'm crabby waking up at 8 in the morning with a headache and can't function without coffee in my system, always trying to sneak a nap when I can, I pretty much know I need to take my ass to bed on time.

    • I rarely get more than four hours of sleep.

I'm not feeling so great thusly.

I pine for a backrub and mebbee some soft kisses on my neck (etc.) ... then a good stretch of five hours-ish (or more) of uninterupted.

For the record: six hours is hunky-dorry for moi.

    • I am very concerned about everyone's good health independent of their personal dreams. Everyone needs to come to the terms that we must have a balance between mind, body and spirit so we can function well.

Therefore, in our reality plan; where no one can scape unless you decide to end it yourself; for me Prevention is the best medicine.

    • In all seriousness, I think quality is more important than quantity. "Imagination is more important than knowledge."

But really, get to sleep if you're tired. The 60 minutes video is convincing. If you wanna use those eight or so hours, go lucid.

    • As Napoleon said...

"7 hours for a man, 8 for a woman, and any more for a fool."

I get 6 myself, but I take many vitamins and often daydream at work about music and theoretical physics.

Sleep is giving in no matter what the time is.
