Morbidity, or sickness, is also "U-shaped," in the sense that both very short sleep and very long sleep are associated with many illnesses - with depression, with obesity, and therefore with heart disease and so forth.

Between 6 to 7 and I feel 100% but can have a 'grump on', any more than 8 and it makes me feel sluggish and a tad ill.
What ever ideal figure they come up with it cant be the same through out your life. With body chemistry changes then I would have thought sleep patterns would change aswell.

I need 9 hours. Every night. If I don't get that then I have to play catch up at the weekend. It's a bit debilatating actually.

If I sleep more than 8 hours I can hardly wake up and I stay tired and lethargic all day. I do my best work on about 4-5 hours sleep. But I can only keep that schedule for about 2 weeks, then I need a good long 13 hour lie in...
