Ibiza Drug Clampdown

aaronstone
This year 3 of Ibiza's main clubs (Amnesia, Bora Bora and DC-10) were closed down in the opening month of the club season in a bid by authorities to force them to tackle drug-dealing and consumption among clubbers. How effective has this been and how important is drug taking to the Ibiza clubbing experience? Will a serious clampdown effect tourism? How difficult is it for the police to deal with the drug situation and are they understaffed to tackle it?

    • Those clubs make so much money during the summer months that they can spend winter doing little to nothing. Closing 3 of the biggest tourist attractions will hurt not just the club owners but hundreds of people who depend on these establishments.

That is before you take into account the various rumours about politically motivated reasons for the closures. Are we to believe that these are the only 3 clubs in Ibiza where drug taking and dealing is rife? You may as well shut every bar and nightclub on the island.
