So the 2008 Atlantic Hurricane Season is upon us and the first Hurricane (Bertha) has formed and so far is threatening Bermuda. This is the same system that bought us Katrina and Wilma in 2005, which was the most active storm year on record.
The forecast for 2008 isn’t too calm though. Forecasts call for 15 total storms, with 8 Hurricanes, and 4 MAJOR Hurricanes. As the days move on, each forecast gets higher.
Why so many Hurricanes? If I say global warming, someone might stab me, so lets show why Global Warming ISN’T causing more Hurricanes.
The number of Hurricanes worldwide have actually decreased over the last 50 years, BUT, the number of intense hurricanes have increased about 50%.
