Prince Charles: GM crops 'biggest environmental disaster'

The Prince of Wales has warned the development of genetically modified crops risked creating the biggest disaster environmentally of all time.

Im right there with Prince Charles when he says that relying on gigantic corporations for food is a recipe for absolute disaster. As with energy, we need a more diverse, localized, truly sustainable and (hopefully) community-based agricultural system if we are to halt and (hopefully) reverse the damage which industrial agriculture has caused to ecosystems.

    • Hi SushsBandit,

This story is important, you better believe it! In my view the genetic modifying of our food supply is one of the greatest mistakes mankind has embarked upon.

I am glad to see the Prince Charles has been a leading opponent of this, even back in the early 90's.

Here is a quote from one other article which I found:

"Prince Charles is a longtime critic of genetic modification of food. He has his own organic farm, which has supplied products to stores under the Duchy Originals brand since 1992."

People may smirk at this; but let me tell you one thing, these Royal's have one thing that they do well, and that is preserve their bloodline, they know that in order to hold onto their titles, and maintain upper hand over their subjects, that weakening there genetic breeding spells disaster.

So, in my view, if its not good enough for Royal blood, it sure isn't good enough for mine! (smiling of course)
