While the trials were only carried out on patients with blood cancer, it is hoped the methods can be adapted to tackle other cancers
The drug, which could prove cheaper than other similar therapies, works by activating the body's own defences to attack the cancer.
The results have been described as an "exciting" and "significant" development in the use of immunotherapy, the process of using the body's own immune system to fight disease.
While the trials were only carried out on patients with the blood cancer, it is hoped the methods can be adapated to tackle other cancers."

I asked Viero to give me some info on THC/Cancer link, that's why, so blame me if anything for the amount of weed related responses.
However, I think it's unfair to dismiss everything because some of you have a bias against marijuana. Like I said before, if THC can truly help people and has something to offer science and medicine, we should definitely look into it. There is a lot of interesting research out there from very credible sources (Harvard, John Hopkins, etc) about THC's medical purposes.
I'm sick of marijuana and the people who smoke it being stereotyped and shut out because of the propaganda some people still believe. - 3 years ago

the thing that gets me is that so much money and time is spent on finding a cure to cancer. why not spend the resources on preventing cancer. educate people about an organic raw food lifestyle. your body is powerful but not when it is full of toxic poisons and free radicles.
cancer can not exist in your body if it is alkaline,
but thrives if you are acidic. a raw food diet will will alkalinize your blood and in turn you will be disease free. - 3 years ago

Hardly a cure. I'm not a dr. or scientist, but I don't see 4 remissions and 5 'reduction of tumor size' out of 38 is a cure....a start, but far from a cure.

Only 4 of 38 cured... I've heard better results from Amazonian shaman. They use natural herbs and dietary restrictions/recommendations.
Under current law we could never recognize a plant as a medicine in the U.S. Why you may ask? To get a drug passed through the FDA one must prove every chemical in its compound safe and effecacious. It costs around 1.6 billion dollars per chemical and an herb is sometimes made up of thousands of chemicals. Disqualified from the start.

For the sake of all those who are ill today and will become ill in the future I hope this is a promising as it seems.Unfortunately with most new drugs their are unwanted serious side affects that may not arise untill months possibly even years after the initial use.If that is not the case with this then millions will soon truly be on the road to recovery.

Sounds like great news. Interesting that in the end the most effective is still by activating our own immune systems rather than flooding our bodies with outside kill-everything type chemicals (though I guess these therapies also include lots of chemicals)

I hope that this break through helps in the fight against all cancers. Hopefully we can keep this out of the hands of big pharma as well as big insurance and make this an affordable treatment for anyone to receive weather they have coverage or not. Constitutionally we have the right to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness,. A cure for cancer is our right to life.

if the rate of success becomes greater than it is now, which i assume it will with a little more time, the drug companies will hold on to it and make it really expensive or start putting out reports saying it doesn't work so they can keep you in the medicine not in the solution.

Its seems a step in the right direction. But 9 out of 38 is not quite impressive but a promise. My biggest concern if it does work is if the corporation will take it to make a profit :(

I would be disapointed if they didn't. Use it to make a profit that is. We live in a capitolistic society and that is what it's all about.
If your thinking in terms of nationalised health care corporations will still profit. Trouble is they won't give you as much service so as not to eat up the profits.

9 out of 38 patients seeing a result? How is this a cure? it shows promise for a third of the people afflicted with this specific cancer at most. Hopefully it will be further developed into a cure, but the numbers don't match the headline.

The acutal plant does not give you cancer, TCH actually kills dormant cells and reduces your risk for cancer, BUT smoking anything damages your lungs. So I guess smoking it kind of cancels its self out.
