The Union of Concerned Scientists is the leading science-based nonprofit working for a healthy environment and a safer world. UCS combines independent scientific research and citizen action to develop innovative, practical solutions and to secure responsible changes in government policy, corporate practices, and consumer choices.

What began as a collaboration between students and faculty members at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1969 is now an alliance of more than 200,000 citizens and scientists. UCS members are people from all walks of life: parents and businesspeople, biologists and physicists, teachers and students. Our achievements over the decades show that thoughtful action based on the best available science can help safeguard our future and the future of our planet.

    • I Agree, it is one of the biggest challenges and the government of the United States of America is working against it with the backing of the right-wing media machine...this policy of counteracting the environmental efforts of the good citizens of this country and the world is preposterous...

I hope UCS has a very profound positive effect on the world consciousness...

    • I expended sometime reading the articles on this website and these people are honest and working for a real change while telling the truth.
The real fact it is that we have a real intentionally and polluted monster in our hands and we must act united to bring this beast down. The enemy is not out there in a distant land, it is right here in the US.

    • One of the most respected scientific sites dealing with global warming and it's socio-economic impacts. I've been supporting them for over a year.
      Thanks stopnoise!
