    • ... Maybe when We have to have tankers of water delivered, from somewhere from where?] ... Maybe then, people will begin to think about water as a serious issue !

    • There are a couple of informative videos here about this drought. This will prove that political sides cannot wage long battles for political points. Solutions for the betterment of the whole must come first.

    • Overpopulation, living in marginally safe (desert and coastal) areas, and a changing climate all need to be addressed by the worlds governments. I hope we're smart enough to address these issues.

    • Good God! Tankers will have to come every day? This just causes me to hate Bush/Cheney and how they have totally f*^%ed the environment with their war policies and no global warming policies.

What the heck does Bush/cheney have to do with a drought??? If you remember, they weren't around during the dust bowl days, and we had a dought for about 10 years. They weren't around when the North of Africa was plush and green several thousand years ago. They weren't around when wolly mammoths roamed present day Pheonix. I think this is one example where they surely aren't to blame, Cyprus is quite a long ways from the US.

Look at Bush's record on any environmental issue. He has set us back years--years that we may not overcome. Of course Bush did not cause a drought per se.....yet every time the USA says,"no there is no global warming, no we will keep the speed limit at 70, no we do not need conservation efforts, yes we need to drill more oil in the oceans, yes we need people to go out and buy more garbage that they don't need, no the war isn't breaking the back of every American"......For every action Bush has taken our country has kept polluting and has kept consuming and has done nothing to help smaller countries that are in crisis other than using bombs. What the US President does matters. Leadership matters. Honesty and civility matters. Of course we did not cause the crisis by ourselves yet we are the biggest culprit in overconsumption and we are the worst at leadership in being green and protecting our world for all to come.

Honestly, megan, what environmental laws have been overturned? Just because he hasn't ordered everyone in the world to ride a bicycle to work doesn't mean he's set the world's environmental movement back. I was against raising the speed limit when it was done, which by the way was started by Congress in 1987, I'm very much for reducing it to at least 60, at least to save lives, most people aren't smart enough to ONLY drive 70, much less talk on the phone, diddle with the cd changer, dvd player, etc at 70+mph.

Any president could scream global warming till we were all blue in the face and what would that do? Nothing unless we ALL changed the way we run our lives.
And depending on what you read and what yardstick they use, it's a very tight race as to who is the largest contributor to greenhouse gasses, between China, USA, and Indonesia. Since China has gone from an energy exporter to a large importer of oil in the last 10 years or so, if they're not #1 they soon will be
      .
And if you really look at why that is, well, the US and all the cheap crap we demand at Wal-Mart for starters. But also as part of the peace process our government, as well as many other major countries, encouraged trade with China as a road to peace with them, and to encourage their human rights issues, look where that 's gone. So what u gonna do? And it didn't start 1-20-2001 either, and i believe congress has the power to initiate some cuts and changes.

What about all the promises the Dems made 2 years ago when the got control of both houses, and we got the all knowing all powerful Pelosi as speaker? there are plenty of houses to throw rocks at.

I read a newspaper story last week about how much less oil and gasoline we used in the last few months because of the cost. I forget the number but it was pretty substantial.
As for Bush's personal house, look at the below link. I feel snopes is pretty reliable.
