Too bad it violates the laws of physics and even Popular Mechanics, which routinely runs stories on far out and barely feasible technologies, calls the car "Rubbish". It's a pity a reputable news source takes the claim as fact without any investigation.

We need to make a car that runs on crap. There's more than enough in the world, heck, you could make it at home for free!

using freshwater would be silly and saltwater wouldn't be of much use unless you lived near the ocean. instead I recommend using gray water or captured rainwater. I wonder if piss would work too...that'd be awesome!

Remember Stan Meyer?
http://waterpoweredcar.com/stanmeyer.html
I don't know if corporate bigwigs and oil companies who were intimidated by his creation poisoned him or not, but I wouldn't rule it out...I'm sure they're greedy enough. Technology like this has been around for a while, it just seems that it's being withheld by 'special interests' who think they'll start losing money.
I think it's a great idea.

I'm sure this technology still requires many years of development to be perfected, but this is certainly a sign of cleaner technology to come. These engineers can now creat hydrogen cars; however, an outside source of energy (often fossil fuels) is needed to split water into hydrogen and oxygen, and the recombination of the two elements creating water is what supplies energy to these cars. But I'm still quite optimistic since scientists everyday are finding ways to make solar, wind, and other renewable energy more efficient, so we can one day replace the fossil fuels part of the equation with renewable energy

did you see the size of the car? that technology has got a long way to go before it could replace petrol/diesel. still its a brilliant idea and i hope it does one day become successful

45% of the world is in drought. Over one billion people don't even have adequate potable water for sanitation and to drink and live. I for one do not want water running cars when it should be going to people.

Well, this is true, 30 years ago, a Filipino guy Mr. Daniel Dingle promoted this to the government in the Philippines. He even drove this hydrogen powered car around Manila.
He has proven that it is possible but unfortunately the government didn't support him.
I would love to see Japanese succeed on this one.
You were right petarro, I don't understand why 33% voted the story down. It's either they work from the oil companies and/or ignorant about wonders of science and technology.

Pretty much, here is another one. The idea on running on Water is great, but running on Sea Water would create Fresh Water as well.

Sadly, even though this technology exists, we probably won't be using it for another 50 years.

That's actually quite impressive, I hope that other news organizations pick up on this one.
