Oh wow, here's a nugget from one of the articles connected to this one:
"The bridges - a mile-long, 200-foot-high bridge connecting Ketchikan to a sparsely populated island and regional airport and a second one linking Anchorage to a port nearly two miles across an inlet - have been aggressively defended by Alaskan lawmakers, who said the projects would promote growth. They complained that their state had been maligned and were able to defeat a move in the Senate to direct the bridge money to hurricane relief."

Essentially, the money Alaska got could have gone to Katrina victims...? Somebody, please jump on this. Please.

Okay, I think I understand the mixup on the special needs funding thing. It went from a 3.2 decrease (pre Palin) to a -17.7 decrease in 08, with no change for 09. That means that instead of decreasing another 3.2 the funding actually increased by 17.2. The FY budget changes that were linked do not give an indicator of what these numbers are (millions, thousands, percentages?) but it is stating that she increased funding for special needs education.
It is really great to see a listing of citations regarding the misstatements made by Palin in her speeches, so thank you so much for this posting. I can use these points to really drive home the places she's gotten it wrong to my neighbors who are hypnotized by this lady and are refusing to look behind the curtain...

Many in the wide audience, ie, not the ones at the GZ of the convention , DID notice...Hey, she did give one heck of a "performance"...but many were left to HUH's and is that ALL she got ? ..Many with in own party shuddered but go along thinking perhaps her chutzpah ability IS going to be "fnough" to get the base out to vote and march to the regimented tune ..She overwhelming was found appealing in those particular segments and that segment has been usful in the past couple of elections for sure but , the HUH's WTF's continue even in the fullfledged goper ranks and file who are not ENTIRELY without thinkability and who truly DO CARE about the gerneral well being and security of this country.
Palin ability truly DOES pale in comparison to Biden whose counter she supposedly is and most certainly a lightweight in comparison to Obama and even to McC (who MUST be rather conundrummed presently as Sara draws the crowd and HE is left there as an accessory ...all rather FRANKENSTEINISH if one mulls it...She but a really empty vessel that can be "properly" filled by the "right handlers" who will "guide" her and she can be THEIR PEOPLE's front ...stritly marketing 101 going on and quite dangerous if pondered for like Bush who gets the BLAME on his shoulders/legacy/etc...few know the NAMES/identities/motivations/profits of those behind the screen doing the manipulatives and pullong the strings and etc, etc, etc...Pali IS perfect for those sorts and she is WILLING, hey why not, she gets to go down in history books...and blah, blah and blechk when really thought and pondered and more...We the ordinaries don't stand a REAL chance do we ...so no wonder we wak away and don't bother much, it IS rather overwhelming to realize OUR insignificance in the grander scheme of all these things...we remain the acceptable collateral damagee's , guess forevermore.
