    • Cool Bear.
      Some posting cite the bears like Palin. Maybe so, but she isn't running to be their VP.....
      I'd love to see her go back to Alaska, take care of the bears and bridges there, and look at Russia from her back yard.
      I am retired US Navy. I served my country for 23 1/2 years. To even suggest that someone as unqualified as she is for VP, and then to couple it with the misrepresentations and out and out lies of the McCain campaign.... No way.
      MY/OUR Flag deserves better!

    • What they do need though is food,and a solid
      surface to rest on. Polar Bears are running out of both in a big hurry. The seals they've always fed on have been over hunted by human predators to provide skins to make coats for Japanese woemen. The Bears don't have the insulation anymore to protect them from the hypothermia of Artic waters, and are emaciated. So the ones who are lucky enough to have made it back to dry land in Alaska are reported to take days of nearly comatose near death sleep to recover from their 100 mile swim.
      While the ones heading in the Northerly direction by
      instinct only find melted ice and open Ocean and drown. I hope the Russians, for whom the Bear is their National symbol, take the lead and mount an
      international rescue effort to relocate these magnificent creatures to Antactica where they can survive long enough for humankind to relocate them to a new planet someday. Without meaning this as any
      type of threat I'd rather see Hitler Bush, psycho Palin listed as endangered feces a la Emily Latella of SNL.

      They are better in water than on land, and don't need as much snow as you might expect.

      The research on this page is 4 years old btw. Try studying the life of a bear.

      Oh yes, I would imagine that Polar Bears would enjoy watching Palin try to sue the Department of Interior for daring to put their species on an endangered species list just because of some stupid reason like the massive reduction of their climate

      Better in water? Interesting. The last time I checked, polar bears can only catch their prey on land, ice or in ice-holes.

      Less ice = less food.

      They couldn't catch a seal while swimming if they tried. Polar bears only swim about 5-6 miles an hour; seals get upwards of 20 miles an hour. Sure, they swim long distances to get to the seals, but many drown in the process.
