McCain wrote the forward to "Debunking 9/11 Myths"

"This conspiracy-mongering is no small phenomenon. Any Internet search will turn up thousands of explanations for the events of September 11.These theories come in nearly infinite variety, but all reach essentially the same conclusion: that the U.S. government, or some shadowy group that controls it, organized the attacks as part of a master plan for global domination. But the truth is more mundane. The philosopher Hannah Arendt described the banality of Nazi evil; the 9/11 hijackers were also ordinary, uninteresting men with twisted beliefs.

"Blaming some conspiracy within our government for the horrific attacks of September 11 mars the memories of all those lost on that day. There were errors and missteps in our government's response, to be sure, but the performance of our public servants was on the whole heroic, not destructive. For their service--for their lives--we are indebted, and we are obliged to pay our debts to those who sacrificed. To blame not a gang of terrorists but some conspiracy for September 11 insults the police officers and firefighters who raced into the burning towers; the men and women who left for dangerous, distant lands to fight our enemies; and those who have fought in all the wars of our history.

"The CIA was not involved in 9/11. Our military did not bring about the destruction of the World Trade Center. Bombs or missiles did not fell the towers. A white jet aircraft did not shoot down Flight 93."

    • I feel it's important to highlight this particular quote from his forward, just take a look at his wording. I'm taking it out of context because I think it's important to notice people's wording choices. He's saying this is what the theorists are saying, but I've never seen it put more clearly by any "conspiracy theorist."

Any time you tell a lie, the truth will sneak it's way in there somehow, and you will expose yourself...

"...the U.S. government, or some shadowy group that controls it, organized the attacks as part of a master plan for global domination."

    • The popular mechanics story has been changed several times, just like the official story. Popular Mechanics is merely pushing forward the official story, and their "facts" are full of holes.

Building 7 had no structural damaged, and was very far out of harms way actually. Remember that originally they said it fell because ruble fell on top of it and knocked it down, then they changed the story when the Silverstein story came out.

      But that's another story.

What interests me is that John McCain wrote the forward to one of the most factually inncorrect "studies." It seems clear that he has some investment in the situation.

    • i find it ironic that such a predominately secular (i think) group of people has many in it that are taken in by the kind of zealotry that breeds these "theories". every important and virtually every unimportant aspect of that trajedy has been examined, reexamined, reexamined again, and then been disected, categorized, and displayed at the county fair. with every (REAL) analysis of the events of that day, the conspiracy theories are PROVEN to be completely, utterly, pathetically bunk.
as for building seven, there was serious stuctural damage, silverstein said pull it. "pull it", as anyone in the demolishion business will tell you, as one of the most notable ones did on the history channel special last year, is absolutely never used by demolishion crews, and it is odd that 9/11 "truthers" would claim some old, wrinklely, rich-ass, pen-pusher would use any demolishion jargon at all, real or imaginary. the building was a lost cause so he suggested the firefighters abandon it as there was no one left inside to save and there were, obviously, more important things to deal with that morning than an empty building. (on an interesting note that when i googled building 7 to verify some of my info, i found one article trying and failing to dismantle one of silverstiens statements in response to the lies swarming around him. it read that there were no firefighter in the building to begin with, and i couldnt help but laugh, recalling VIDEO FOOTAGE of them evacuating the building. pathetic.)
let me finish with this from a former "truther": read the popular mechanics article with an OPEN MIND, and get back to me afterwards.

Yeah, I read it, and I remember reading it before they adjusted their story too. Sure, be open minded, but be CRITICAL. I boycotted Pop Mechs after I saw how they were the dummy mouthpieces for the official story. They've changed their story so many times everytime they were contradicted. All sceientist reasonably believe that explosives brought down those buildings.

    • It's not that hard to believe that Senator McCain has as much to lose as GWB's administration should this hideous jigsaw puzzle ever be put together.
He was one of the central Media mouthpieces suggesting Iraqi invlovement right after the attack.
I can't help but wonder why that was.
      Now, he's running for president.

    • I don't know...some of those 'conspiracy theories' hold up pretty well, and there are many unexplained and unreleased parts of 9/11. The most pressing and most telling thing I can say is: Building 7.
