The captain of the high-speed ferry, The Fantastic, saved the lives of his passengers and crew thanks to his quick thinking.
The ferry was coming into the Italian port of Genoa on a journey from Tangiers when it was hit by gale-force winds. The engines failed; forcing the captain to drop anchor right away.
Whilst the anchor dangerously brought the ferry to a sudden halt, only 40 of 439 passengers were hurt, and there were no deaths.
