Marijuana-inspired painkiller? New chemical pathway discovered

Image

Marijuana can be an effective painkiller, but social issues and unhealthy smoke inhalation complicate its use. As a result, researchers have focused great attention on understanding the biochemical system involved so they might manipulate it by other means. Toward that end, scientists have definitively identified a chemical pathway that, in mice, imitates marijuana's painkilling effect. The work could enable the development of new pain treatments.

    • Big business wants nothing to do with THC...
they cant control it- they cant monoplize it therefore they cant make big money off of it!
Its like the oil business. Do they want us to have other alternatives such as solar, wind etc? Hell no!

Botton line monolpolies are the death of a democracy.
Americans have to stand up to big business and big politics!

    • why do they need to spend millions of dollars to recreate something they can grow for a fraction of the cost. america needs to get over its taboo issue with pot and really look into the various uses it has and how it can help us - how many people died of painkiller overdose last year? how many people died of pot overdose? the data is there, and its stupid to ignore it and continue to put people in jail over something that can be helping people.

    • And so big pharma can make big bucks off of something I could grow at home. No thanks. And don't tell me the smoke is bad. If I'm worried about that, I'll eat it.
