Many people who once loved our governor - now think Granholm doesn't deserve to be a democrat - because she's acting like a Republican.
Granholm and others - like famous actor/director Jeff Daniels - proclaim their love for the Upper Peninsula but are remaining strangely silent in the fight to stop Kennecott Minerals and other mining companies from building sulfide mines nicknamed "acid" mines.
Granholm, Daniels and others with power should be leading the fight to stop the Eagle Project.
In fact - the governor's top Upper Peninsula aide - her point man on the mine issue - recently quit his job to take a lucrative position with Kennecott''s parent company. That speaks volumes as the gov remains tight-lipped.
The National Wildlife Federation has produced a documentary about the gallant fight to protect the Upper Peninsula.
The public is invited to a free showing of the film om Dec. 5, 2008 in Marquette at Northern Michigan University.

While I usually support any measure to protect our air, waters, and forests, I just don't see any reason to support those that are trying to block the mining near the Huron Mountain Club. The mining opponents argue that the mining will release sulfides into the Salmon-Trout river polluting it and spoiling it's natural beauty, while endangering the protected Coaster Brook Trout.
I don't see any reason to try and protect that stream because I and millions like me will never have the opportunity to view that river or to catch a coaster brook trout because they lie on private Huron Mountain Club property. If they want to keep a stream clean for their own personal use, let the Club build a big water filtration plant and clean the Salmon-Trout river when it enters their property. That way, they can continue to own a river with pristine river and contine to prevent the rest of us from seeing it. - 2 years ago
