There is no doubt that alcohol can enter the bloodstream thru the skin. IFIf it is enough to 'make you buzzed' I am a leary of an intoxicated surgeon operating on a patient. Perhaps this may explain some of the instances of surgical tools left inside patients or much, much worse.

i was a bartender for three years and i would get alcohol ALL OVER MY HANDS...and sometimes my arms and i must add that i seldomly took drinks from my customers...like once a month or so. While working, it used to be like taking a shower in booze. and although i never felt drunk, i acted like was really really drunk...being silly, not being able to count money properly, making fun of my managers...etc. So i think this doctor has some ground on his claim, but how long did he spend washing his hands?...i would spend eight hours with booze...so thats more understandable but it only takes about 3 minutes tops to wash your hands...
