I agree. I think protitution should be legalized, but at this point it's a state decision. States are free to vote on it- they did in Cali, for example, during this year's election. (It didn't pass.) The amount of money that could be made is mindblowing.

Can you imagine if they legalized prostitution and put some of that money towards finding a cure for HIV/AIDS and other STDS? Can you imagine brothels with tuition reimbursement programs? There is so much potential for good, but people are afraid of the things they consider "evil".

Well to be a little off topic. This is a huge untapped tax generating resource for the goverment. They could collect a licensing tax and usage tax. This would allow these people to have an honest profession and not have to hide and be exploited. Besides the government needs the money to bail everyone else out.

I have a life unlike most in that I was actually a nightclub producer/promoter in Hollywood despite the fact that I have relatively conservative sexual morals. It was weird, because I always had hot women throwing themselves at me for one reason or another (namely because I could get them into my (or most other) clubs and provide them with any party favors they desired...possibly because I was an underwear model too), but I would always just politely decline the advances and retreat to hanging out in the DJ booth instead.

To be honest, their overly friendly behavior disgusted and scared me because of the realization that if they were acting that easy to me, they have acted that easy to any number of other guys before me, and the odds of STD's etc. being involved in that equation are frightening.

I have noticed that "live for the day" mantra to be quite common in stupid people I've met whose lives are F*cked Up Beyond All Recognition by my standards.

Meeting the people I met in the club scene painted a very tragic picture of what many of those "easy" types of girls lives were really like, and so the thought of prostitutes, strippers, and porn stars is not something that turns me on.

I think men just in general are too obsessed with sex....Many reasons why they love sex is because women cater to their needs it usually isn't as much about the woman as it is for the man. Hey guys, you wonder why you cant get sex? Its not because you dont have enough cash or women are all cold bitches or they are all 'emotional baggage', it might be because you have that attitude though. Personally I would never pay for a hooker. I can control my lusts enough not too. I think our culture sends a lot of mixed signals about relationships and the importance that we place upon certain aspects. I desire sex because I just do, but this is also related to a deeply social drive to be accepted by the common populace (especially other males). I would rather meet someone and have a consistent, more long term relationship, but the urge is just so strong sometimes. I think it is ultimately an acceptance thing. Whether it is a prostitute, a one-night stand, or a long term relationship, its all about human interaction. Even spending one night with a person, even under the context of money, will make you feel better about yourself. And obviously their is a pleasure factor there for both people involved. I would rather have someone I know better (more trust, etc.) The world is sometimes a lonely place though, and sometimes even our best efforts end in disappointment. I don't condone it and unfortunately think that a lot of people don't get substantial love in their lives, and this probably makes someone feel better. We are human after all.

I don't think all men purchase sex, but for those who do, I think, and it's just my thought. That first of all they want it. Scientist have said that men think of sex in some form or another every 3 minutes. That's alot of thought power. And buying sex is the lazy way out. They don't have to be involved, they do not have to please her, they just pay and get their rockets fired. With a girlfriend or a spouse, it's emotional and they do have to put forth some sort of effort to please her if they want her to be receptive in the future to their sexual needs.
