These are some ridiculous assumptions. I used to say "men were created for 4 things, mow the lawn, wash the car, lift heavy objects and give us babies...what now they are down to three?"

Just kidding. Being an older citizen of almost 60, let me tell you women things are FAR better. I watch my sons as senstive fathers, husbands and man is evolving into a sensitive and caring human.If we could just stop them from playing WAR.

Why do I have a feeling that the women most likely to be interested in this new development are the very ones most likely to never be acquiring sperm in the natural way anyway?

The "ooh look, we don't need you menfolk anymore - we never did, being the empowered she-monsters that we are and always have been" comments are predicable as clockwork with these sorts of stories (current doesn't have quite as many as other sites, but still - jeeeez).

First off, they can't do this without embryonic stem cells.

Second off, if they can do this, it's only a matter of time before an egg is grown in the same manner, and a womb is replaced by some tube-ridden plastic apparatus.
Then we won't need anyone at all, because science has made organic parts irrelevant. We can just cut off/ out our genitals at birth. Yaaay

Sorry futurehempfarmer, I am a man I'm just wiser than you are. And nihilistic women, are just as bad as nihilistic men. Thinking constantly and constantly seeking better understanding first takes realizing that your outlook is flawed. Then doing the before mentioned causes your thinking to evolve to a higher state. You're probably just a common joe-blow, you like all, that is all, or at least most typical male stuff that all of the other guys in your circle like, you most likely all agree and generally think the same way; and your female counterpart is just as bad. It's silly to think men will be unnecessary/irrelevant. Personally I join with the women who say that they aren't just reproductive machines. Relevancy isn't limited to reproduction.

Besides, this wont stop men and women from falling in love and wanting to create a child together, that's natural and deep down what most people want regardless of what they say.

What this will and can do is make able couples who otherwise can't have children due to the man having a low-sperm count or what-have-you be able to have one. Now they can do with sperm what they can do with eggs.

It's a good thing all around for everyone. Especially responsible, committed couples in a stable, healthy household who otherwise wouldn't be able to create a child (but would create a strong, mentally/socially healthy one).

It's good for Countries/Cultures/Ethnic groups who's population is on the decline.

It's difficult not to be paranoid though when one lives in the US, where the genders are at each others throats. I didn't appreciate how sick and out of control it is until I lived outside the states for a while. Believe it or not but in most other countries men and women actually like each other and/or have no forward, pre-existent prejudiced toward each other at all.
