These neon green mushrooms, or Mycena chlorophos, to use the technical term, emerge during the rainy season in Japanese and Brazilian forests, scattering the floor with glowing spores. The bases of tree trunks, fallen branches, leaf litter and moist soil provide perfect breeding grounds for the mushrooms.

Nature is so awesome. These special mushrooms look as though they should have been in Fantasia.

There's a type of mushroom called Jack-o-lantern that glows the same way. It looks similar to a Chantrelle mushroom.. but they are toxic to eat (not in a good way). There are people on certain islands that use these mushrooms as night vision aids... so they can see each other in the dark forest. Mushrooms are fascinating!

I wonder if anyone has tried to put any of these fresh in a to garnish a romantic dinner? They do their bioluminescence even after being picked. Of course it would be best to leave them where they are so they can be fruitful and multiply!

I think Benjamin Franklin suggested illuminating mushrooms to give light off in an early version of the submarine. Foxfire I believe.

I'd love to eat those lil' green mushrooms that glow- they must be trippy. Just found a lot of mushrooms out here in Hawaii in some cow pies- they were very strong, mushrooms for everybody!

Nah, more like 500 rads. It takes at least that much to make a Ghoul glow. and -1 HP.
