    • Wow, this thread should just start out by saying "Captain Obvious says......" but I agree. And we can help end hunger through out the world with the miracle of GM crops =)

    • I doubt there is any ideal politics of any kind that can establish humanitarian goals at this point. It has been political corruption, ideology and rancor that have in great part deteriorated this world. This isn't a political issue, this is a human issue. Making it a political issue is what has kept progress from coming. Same with the climate crisis.

    • The world is showing it can no longer adequately feed (clothe & house) a population of 6.7 billion. I hate to think of how many people go to sleep hungry every night & of those that do not reawaken. Until we change our ways, mounting global disasters will continue to take their toll. We need a sane approach. War is not the answer when peace begets peace.

    • Socialism is not a political means to establish humanitarian needs. Socialist was an experiment that failed and therefore it cannot be a means whatsoever. A totalitarian, centrally planned economy is a utopian concept and nothing more. Furthermore peace and totalitarianism makes about as much sense as peace and slavery.

In my opinion the best chance we have for attaining a more peaceful world is by promoting human rights, education and voluntary exchange (or in other words free trade).

    • Socialism is a political means to establish humanitarian goals. We need to establish an adequate social safety net. No one need be homeless or hungry. It is only a matter of the collective asserting itself, for compassion and charity, for justice and fairness.

    • Wars will never bring peace, but humanity will. I truly believe that people in countries where poverty and hunger do not exist and where people are treated equitably strive for peace. It unfortunately is a concept many humans do not now practice, but we cannot give up. I think this is a great way to start. I will be giving for the holidays to support having seedlings and shares in animals given to families who can then use those gifts to learn to sustain themselves. You can either choose to give someone a fish that is gone in one meal, or you can show them how to fish which is something they will have for a lifetime. That is the key to sustainability and peace in my view.

    • Until we all can learn to share the wealth, the food, the values of human rights, to put aside all differences and finally come together as if we all could have been centuries ago....then peace shall come and hunger shall leave...
