My son actually bought me an acre on the moon for X-Mas in 2002, lot number 1/0269, from The Sovereign Worlds of Hope. Maybe I can cash in on this in a few years from now.

We can't manage our own economy so what makes us think we can control the moon.

Nobody owns it, it's a fucking satellite that controls the tides among a few other things. If we start a war over the moon, the human race has taken another giant leap into stupidity. What the fuck is it going to cost to keep people alive up there? BILLIONS THAT WE DON'T FUCKING HAVE! We should attempt to fix the problems we have on Earth before we go off colonizing the moon.

Well, adveritas, after all, the Moon was part of the earth before the great collision which formed it. :)

Of course humans would think wrongfully that the world belongs to them, but the moon? It's really unfortunate that we're so stupid enough to think that we're the whole point of the whole universe.
Leave the Moon alone!

You need to settle and homestead on it for at least twenty years before having a chance of making a valid claim. Alternately, it belongs to whoever can take it home and park it in their back yard.

will they have to get a US visa to land? ..cos that could rule out a few of the countries trying to land on the Moon.
This is so silly. No one owns the Moon. To think that anyone can proclaim owership over something like that is just arrogance.

If you have the means to get there and claim your property, it's yours in my book. Good luck with that, let us know how that all works out. =)

that is interesting because that is how we did it in the "o'l days" but if you own a planets moon or anything in space does that mean you own whats around it?

Your purchase of land on the moon is probably as good as purchasing land in an african protected rainforest-- ie a scam with no legal standing.
I'm also pretty sure that this was all taken care of in the 60's when a bunch of countries claimed that the moon belongs to no country.

If it is just a worthless rock your probably right. But if they find some value, or something of value up there, the fights going to be on for ownership. Greed is still alive and well on this planet.
