650 scientists deny man-made global warming

Over 650 dissenting scientists from around the globe challenged man-made global warming claims made by the United Nations Intergovernemntal Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and former Vice President Al Gore. This new 231-page U.S. Senate Minority Report report -- updated from 2007’s groundbreaking report of over 400 scientists who voiced skepticism about the so-called global warming “consensus” -- features the skeptical voices of over 650 prominent international scientists, including many current and former UN IPCC scientists, who have now turned against the UN IPCC. This updated report includes an additional 250 (and growing) scientists and climate researchers since the initial release in December 2007. The over 650 dissenting scientists are more than 12 times the number of UN scientists (52) who authored the media-hyped IPCC 2007 Summary for Policymakers.

The chorus of skeptical scientific voices grow louder in 2008 as a steady stream of peer-reviewed studies, analyses, real world data and inconvenient developments challenged the UN and former Vice President Al Gore's claims that the "science is settled" and there is a "consensus." On a range of issues, 2008 proved to be challenging for the promoters of man-made climate fears. Promoters of anthropogenic warming fears endured the following: Global temperatures failing to warm; Peer-reviwed studies predicting a continued lack of warming; a failed attempt to revive the discredited “Hockey Stick”; inconvenient developments and studies regarding CO2; the Sun; Clouds; Antarctica; the Arctic; Greenland; Mount Kilimanjaro; Hurricanes; Extreme Storms; Floods; Ocean Acidification; Polar Bears; lack of atmosphieric dust; the failure of oceans to warm and rise as predicted.

In addition, the following developments further secured 2008 as the year the “consensus” collapsed. Russian scientists “rejected the very idea that carbon dioxide may be responsible for global warming”. An American Physical Society editor conceded that a “considerable presence” of scientific skeptics exist. An International team of scientists countered the UN IPCC, declaring: “Nature, Not Human Activity, Rules the Climate”. India Issued a report challenging global warming fears. International Scientists demanded the UN IPCC “be called to account and cease its deceptive practices,” and a canvass of more than 51,000 Canadian scientists revealed 68% disagree that global warming science is “settled.”

    • I'm frustrated by how people need to always have things one way or the other. Black or white. Things don't typically work that way, especially not in nature.

Throughout the history of the earth, our climate has changed many times. It will surely change again. We shouldn't deny any involvement with changes of the planet we live on - it seems silly; humans have taken over the earth and the things we do will inevitably affect it. To claim ALL responsibility for the changes of our planet is also silly (and typically arrogant of our species.)

There is a season (turn, turn, turn)..."

    • Haven't you guys heard? The terminology has changed. We are no longer dealing with "global warming". Now, we are f*cked because of "climate change". And yes, oh yes, we humans are to blame for the climate changing. Never mind that 1 volcanic eruption can release more greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere than LA could release in 10 years. A big one could wipe out humanity. It is proposed to have happened before. But, let us continue paying no attention to the bigger picture.

Don't you people get it?? Keep people in fear and you can keep them controlled. Isn't that what Hitler did? Fear, fear, fear.

Money makes the world go 'round. Lot's of people have been f*cked over in the name of progress. As long as there are those who are never satisfied with what they have, those who seek more and more money (and the power that comes with it), the suffering of humanity will not end. Those in power will do anything to keep it, even use the environment as a tool for manipulation.

Don't get me wrong please- I understand that humans do have an affect on Earth. I know that the Gulf of Texas is a dead zone, just one that humans helped create. I am totally for perpetuating Awareness, for taking responsibility for one's actions and for doing the best we can, not for ourselves, but for the good of the world and all the people in it. Yes, fossil fuels are dirty. Yes, there's a better way. But please, don't be fooled! Even if the Big Oil guys go out, there will be someone in line waiting to take their place. Perhaps, it'll be T. Boone Pickens, the millionaire from Texas who's pushing for renewable energy. When you dig deeper you'll find that his real objective isn't energy at all, it's WATER (the new oil).
But, that's a whole other can of worms...

There is a propaganda machine that is well oiled and it comes in the form of six corporations who determine exactly what we, the people of this world, are informed of. Educate yourself. Ask questions, always, always, always. Remain open to the truth, cuz "facts" are everywhere.

    • This isn't a scientific issue anymore, it's a political issue. One massive volcano eruption produces 1,000 times the CO2 and polutants that man has put into the atmosphere since the beginning of civilization. Are we contributing to global pollution? Yes. Are we the main driver, probably not. Why don't we go green because it's the right thing to do, and forget this hokie climate stuff. We don't have the science yet to understand the microtrends of weather.

o its takeing its course allright but i dont think it wants many humans on board for the ride anymore.

    • I was personally on this lecture. By one of the leading Non man made global warming "scientist". He hasnt convineced anyone of physics student. Our professor did ask him a question and he got stupid answer. There were only like 5 minutes of questions because he couldnt stand serious debate and he's one leading those 650 scientist and Oh yeah he claims he works for free. Complete nonsense.

      http://videolectures.net/kolokviji_singer_nnha/

PS: He was also claiming tobacco isnt to blame for cancer and other stupid corporations paid researches....

    • How easy the sheep are lead."Man-made" global warming" is a con.But go ahead, pay your climate credits, you are your family are going to hurt bad, because of this con.Once you have to start making the payments (which we be soon),only then "maybe" will you actually seek the truth

The Club of Romes (research who they are) -The First Global Revolution states page 102 "In searching for a new enemy to unite us,we suggested that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill'.

That was written in the 1970's.

The Club of Rome = the people who run the world.

    • You guys do realize that they're rejecting only the man made portion of global warming right?

They didn't say it's not happening, they say we're not causing it.

They belong to the "we're totally fucked anyways" category of scientists.

Sorry flat-earthers, I know you got your hopes up, but global warming is real. The debate is not about whether or not it's happening, it's about what's causing it.

In that respect, this level of skepticism has always been there. Also, they don't make mention of how many of these scientists are actually climatologists and how many actually use to be on the IPCC, those are pretty important details.

    • seriously... what a load of bollox. I can't believe people who have gone through actual doctoral work would wager their careers, not to mention the detriment to the world as a whole on such a load of crap.

I could have six chimpanzees type "gravity's f*@$ing rainbow" in finnish before a scientist with any credibility would put their shiz on the line as to whether or not the level of activity humanity is on is sustainable. Whether or not this is leading to the downfall of humanity may be in question, but the amount of resources humanity uses in regards to the way "the earth has existed for millions of years" might raise some eye brows.

We might as well get on sustainable energy now. Fossil fuels reflect just as much as their name says.

    • It's a valid argument. There are no definitive, hard scientific answers to either prove or disprove.

What we do know is that we are releasing an enormous amount of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, and we know what these gases do in regards to trapping heat inside the atmosphere.

.02% seems like an insignificant amount, but that's over a relatively small amount of time and a huge amount of space. We have very significantly contributed to the increase in CO2 content in the atmosphere, and even more so with greenhouse gases.

If you were to ask those 650 scientists whether or not in 500 years, if the developing world continues to expand and the release of greenhouse gases continues to rise exponentially, will our planet be in trouble? That number of "dissenters" would go down.

Many scientists actually predict some favorable climate conditions leading to increasing agricultural production in poor areas of the world in which agriculture is rare.

    • these 650 should fight the thousands of world wide IPCC scientists that have been studying this for 20 years in a game of jeopardy followed by an american gladiator style competition... winner take all.

or i guess we could just look at the data and realize that its pretty obvious...

Not that you are making sense, but 650 out the rest of the scientists who disagree with these 650 would have been more accurate. Because depending on your interpretation I am a Scientist and I think you are relying on false data to infer your conclusion.

      $100 Million it's ture

$0 It's not, $0? Because if global warming is real (lol) what's the point of money?

    • Did they get their degrees at Wal-mart?

      Nasa's planet vital signs show:

Arctic Sea Ice Down 39% since 1979
Carbon Dioxide now 383 parts per million
      Worldwide Sea Levels Up 39mm
Global Temps Up 1.3 degrees Fahrenheit since 1985
Ozone Hole now spans 8.5 million square miles

      Natural causes huh? yeah right!

    • what percentage of the total scientific body does 650 represent.

...cause I'm pretty sure there are some "scientists" out there that also believe in the Flood and young earth creationism.

it's not exactly complicated, you put billions of tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere it's going to do something.

if it isn't going to flip the ozone out it's still going to kill us (look at asthma rates in china for christs sake!)

    • And as for Carbon Dioxide NOT causing global warming all one has to do is to consider Venus....

Venus is about the size of the Earth and somewhat closer to the sun but is hotter (900 degrees C) than Mercury at the temperature of molten lead. It's atmosphere is 90 x that of Earth.

Take away our atmosphere and we would freeze to death, increase it as we are doing now and the "blanket" becomes thicker and traps more heat.

    • We are just now, at the very beginning stages, climbing out from Solar Minimum, that point in the Solar Cycle that has the least amount of Flares and Coronal Mass Ejections equaling less heat and light from the Sun.

    • We shouldn't be so arrogant to think that we as humans are so great or significant to think that we are able to destroy something that has been around for millions of years. Every scientist that is worth his salt knows that the temperature is directly affected by solar activity. Even Al Gore doesn't believe his own spiel because if he did he would do all his conferences by tele-conferencing, instead of flying (sometimes) on private planes. With him its all about the benjamins.

so you don't think humans have the ability to destroy the earth? ever heard of the term nuclear winter? It would only take a handful of nuclear explosions to cause the delicate balance of the world to be thrown off and destroy all life besides possibly some bacteria lifeforms.

    • CO2 went from .02% to .04% composition of the atmosphere. The overall tempurature increase planet wide has been 2 degrees C.

Can a .02% increase cause such a rise in tempature?

Would the sun's recent solar storms/flares be affecting us aswell or maybe only?

    • I have seen the potential of what global warming has done to many parts of this world(including the US)...Its coming, whether the scientists can or cannot detemine it, its coming, and what we can do is to prevent it, that's the objective, if there is a such thing if Global warming did not exist, we still need to convert to green regardless, and stop the destruction of fossil fuels...
