Obama's new science team: will we see a change of climate?

Barack Obama underscored on Saturday his intent to push initiatives on climate change by naming John Holdren, an energy and climate specialist, as the new White House science adviser.

Holdren is a Harvard University physicist who has focused on the causes and consequences of climate change and advocated policies aimed at sustainable development.

Obama also recently announced Nobel Prize winning physicist Steven Chu as his choice for energy secretary. Both of these men stress the importance of cutting greenhouse-gas emissions soon.

It's certainly a change from the Bush administration's attitude toward science and climate change. What is still uncertain though is how quickly Obama will push for legislation to limit greenhouse-gas emissions.
