The “scientific consensus” that Al Gore and his fellow global warming alarmists rely upon to force radical changes in how Americans live and work is being unraveled by Mother Nature. In addition to the recent freak snowstorms in Malibu, New Orleans and Las Vegas, Arctic ice is expanding this year - not shrinking - and there were 115 record-low temperatures reported in the U.S. in October, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Despite rising carbon dioxide levels, the Earth has actually been cooling – not warming – since 1998, when the warming trend peaked in conjunction with heightened sunspot activity. It appears that 2008, the National Climatic Data Center now says, will go down as the coldest year in a decade.

“For how many years must the planet cool before we begin to understand that the planet is not warming?” asked Dr. David Gee, chairman of the 2008 International Geological Congress’ science committee. That’s an excellent question for President-elect Barack Obama, who promised mandatory caps on carbon emissions and a new international global warming treaty. After meeting with Gore recently, Obama proclaimed: “The time for delay is over; the time for denial is over. We all believe what the scientist have been telling us for years.”

Which scientists? Does Obama believe more than 650 current and former members of the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) who are now publicly questioning the non-scientist Gore’s major premise? Or Norwegian Nobel physicist Ivar Giaever, who declared himself a global warming skeptic, as did Dr. Joanne Simpson, the first woman in the world to receive a Ph.D. in meteorology? Or the scientists who point out that “100 percent” of the 20th century global warming signal comes from man-made “adjustments” made to a computer model at NASA’s Goddard Institute?

    • RIIIIGHT...& the 38 degrees in temperature shift overnight to a record 68 degrees fahrenheit on Dec. 27th(in Kansas), & then back to 28 degrees the next day is normal...SUUUURE, anybody wanna buy a watch?!?

    • Regarding the ill informed and as usual data-less entry on the blog noted :

      The ignorance of some is staggering. 'Oh my God it snowed today so climate change doesn't exist.' People who believe that are an embarrassment to people with brains. An increase in water vapor in the atmosphere due to warming will also bring to some areas of Antarctica expansion of ice, and the cooling effect that is taking place over the Pacific now is due to the NAO which is all part of climate currents...however, ON THE WHOLE, melting is occurring as can be seen with your own eyes if you actually read anything of substance on this issue. The Arctic lost two trillion tons of ice in four years, and that wasn't from overall cooling.

      And the picture used gives the agenda in this away. Just another political partisan who wants to skewer Al Gore instead of actually looking at NASA data that concludes that while this year while cooler than the last is still part of an OVERALL warming trend. Which of course can be corroborated by the fact that 45% of this country is now experiencing some state of drought. But that would be too much to ask flatearthers with an ax to grind and a status quo they don't want to let go of to understand.

      And once again the term 'global warming' is used like 'clean coal' by those looking to diminish this crisis. Of course, to the layman who does not know as much about the effects as others may the term global warming would say to them that the Earth is on fire, and if it isn't it doesn't exist. This is a misleading falsehood now propagated by skeptics as a desperate last minute attempt to gain credibility and to also shield the dirty fossil fuel industry making money off of keeping people ignorant about it.

      The term is CLIMATE CHANGE, and it includes much more than just warming temperatures. Ask someone from Kiribati if they know what climate change is. Ask a farmer in the outback of Australia is he knows what climate change is. Ask a member of the indigenous tribes in the Arctic if they know what climate change is.

      Over 900 peer reviewed scientific articles besides thousands of scientists worldwide who corroborate that indeed climate change is here and that the Earth on the whole is in a warming trend (with even a only 2 degree increase havint the ability to bring damage to the Earth's climate balance) already leading to species extinction, invasive species, drought that is more prolonged, stronger storms (as noted by cyclones this past year that hit Asia... it isn't just the US that gets hurricanes,) erratic rainfall patterns that are already leading to crop disruption, and rising sea levels, acidification of our oceans, and the glacier melt that is happening on every continent that is threatening water resources for many.

      It is blatantly morally irresponsible to base this argument simply on a political grudge. This is a serious crisis that is effecting people of all races and creeds globally. So to end this, I would suggest that the author of that blog post take his head out of his exterior parts and actually read a scientific report written by an actual scientist and not a weatherman.

    • The "adjustments" at Goddard were not to change the way anything was read. The adjustment was a date/time stamp.
      Climate change is natural, as has been proven by geologic layers.
      However...the pollution that has been put in the air and water is hastening the process.
      The main reason so many scientists are questioning this has to do with funding. Money is tight, especially since Bush and Co. don't believe science unless it says what they want to hear.
      You want you're project funded, better do as you're told.
      Of course this is not for other countries.
      But no matter what is ever posited as fact, will be debated and there will be as many that don't agree, as do.
