Study finds GM corn disturbs immune system of mice

Another test, and other findings against GM corn. And yet, even though the majority of our processed foods in America are made with this 'stuff', our government doesn't deem it necessary for the people to know what is going into their food and give them the choice of whether or not they wish to consume it. Seems to me if there is nothing unnatural or unsafe about it labelling would not be a problem. This is very disturbing and it is important that people who are eating this 'stuff' be informed of these tests, especially since they have no choice in consuming it. Hopefully in the coming year that will change, because those of us who care about the health of our children (child obesity is rising) and others, and the sustainability of the environment these organisms have just been let out into without proper testing will be relentless in fighting for our Democratic right to know what we are consuming in our food!

And just as an addendum:

I got a message from someone after the posting I made yesterday regarding tests that showed bee behavioral anomolies after being exposed to proteins from BT corn. I was called an 'alarmist' and basicially made to feel a bit intimidated about posting the information. To you I say, here is another bit of proof for you. If you have done your own testing and come to a different conclusion post the results here for all to see. Oh, and tests done by Monsanto do not count. And as far as my posting this information when I come upon it...that will continue, because something this important to our planet's sustainability, biodiversity, and the health and safety of our children and people is not something I intend to ignore.

Thank you.

    • It is a shame that profit has put us all at risk. Home gardening may become necessity and not hobby! As it is although biofuels are better for our environment, their production has driven the price of corn and other food staples that were an inexpensive option in tortillas and similar flour based foods through the roof as farmers are turning their crops to fuel for more money. We may have to garden for safety and economical reasons.

    • Monsanto is a world leader in Genetically Engineered & Genetically Modified food sources upon which all humans subsist. As they go global with this strategy, they are truly one of the most dangerous companies in the world as they attempt to monopolize the very essence of survival - legal ownership of patented single use seeds to grow our food, and unbelievably, must be purchased from Monsanto every year in order to plant your next crop. BOYCOTT ALL MONSANTO PRODUCTS AT ALL COSTS!

If you haven’t seen the documentary “The Future of Food” (or even "The Corporation") yet, I strongly urge you to do so. If I didn’t know that Monsanto’s goal of global food manipulation, distribution & ultimately complete crop control is perfectly legal, I would have thought this reaching the level of science fiction. However, this is one powerful & evil company that has Washington D.C.’s politicians, regulatory agencies & lobbyists in all their pockets.

Don’t be fooled or misled, Monsanto is one of the biggest scum-sucking parasites ingratiating its way further into everyone’s daily life whether you are aware of it or not. Their logo should be the CEO with horns, a pointy tail & carrying a pitchfork in order to prod you into becoming a consumer of their products. Do not underestimate or do business with this company-you will only empower them to overpower us.

Franken foods must be kept off of store shelves at all costs. Go organic whenever possible, becoming an informed consumer & spending your money in a way that does not support a system leading to our potential demise.

Monsanto has even sued and prevailed against farmers whose crops were contaminated by the MONSANTO patented GM crop.

The wind blew the pollen on to near by farms some of which were considered organic until the contamination, Monsanto alleged that since the patented markers were found in the crops and the farmer didn't have a license from Monsanto they were in violation of Monsanto's license agreement for such crops. The contaminating Pollen arrived by the wind and destroyed the organic status of the farms as well the farmers were required to pay damages to Monsanto.

Its not only food but all agricultural commodities look at what they have done with cotton in India.

    • America has the most expensive health care system in the world, yet we rank fairly low in infant mortality, cancer, alzheimers, etc, etc. Why do you think that is?? Growing your own is good, but make sure the seeds aren't GMO (try seedsavers.com). A simple way around it is use only organic foods. And don't believe the USDA Organic label. They're heavily lobbied, what else more do I need to say about that? Many GMO's are banned or at least better regulated in Europe than in America. How come they're so much smarter than us? Go Obama!!

    • I highly recommend this documentary titled "The Future of Food." It's an in depth investigation on unlabelled and patented GM foods and how they've made it to grocery stores in the past decade.

    • Janforgore, thank God there is people like you in this world. I, too, have been ridiculized in the past when I attempted several times to bring to light this huge tragic truth about gm food and monsanto being the evil cause for it.

Only a few experiments have been done on gm food and the results were really bad, on the contrary no test were ever made to see if these gm food were safe for people to consume it, this makes it all more aggravating and alarming. It makes you wonder what fda is really doing, they are the ones supposed to supervise and protect the consumer. How is that for an alarm?

To the people that do not believe in this and decide to make a fool out of us because we spell scary truths, for those that decide to live in denial, stay disinformed and ignorant, remain silent!

Unless you come up with some verified proof then we will have a debate otherwise these people are only smoke , nothing else, I have no sympathy for them either, keep eating gm food, the day you don't feel so good you will rethink the words "genetically engineered".

    • excellent post.

we want to learn. we want to know our enemies.
we WILL NOT be wiped out without a vicious fight!

"you are an alarmist" essentially means "I am living in a safe, happy bubble, the government is my friend. how DARE you try to educate me to what is really going on right under my nose? stop talking. i can't hear you. blah-blahblah......zzzzzzzzzzSNORTzzzzzzzzz"

    • Something else we can do as citizens is to voice our support of Rep. Dennis Kucinich's HR 6636: Genetically Engineered Food Right To Know Act.

    • JanforGore:

Yes absolutely we need to have the right to know what is and isn't genetically modified. What are the corporations so afraid of? Why don't they want us to know?

Because their sales will plummet and market forces will cause their plan to fail. This is market manipulation pure and simple. They are creating the market for GM foods through sheer deception.
