CHICAGO (Jan. 8) - U.S. scientists have found a way to levitate the very smallest objects using the strange forces of quantum mechanics, and said they might use it to help make tiny nanotechnology machines.

A team at Harvard, including researchers at the National Institutes of Health have begun to conduct experiments, attempting to levitate larger objects. The team is so sure that the project will be succesful, they've already applied for patents on the idea.

The method, having to do with nano and micromechanics was discovered while working on new devices for Micro Electromechanical Systems or MEMS, used in airbag technology.
