'English Galileo' maps on display

Ever heard of Thomas Harriot? The English astronmer was the first man to view the moon through a telescope. Galileo did it in December 1609, but there are records showing Harriot drew images of the Moon several months before. To celebrate the International Year of Astronomy, Harriot's 400-year-old maps will be on display this summer.

    • It's actually not surprising that someone else was making similar discoveries at that time. He's probably relieved that he did keep quiet, saving himself from imprisonment...
      I will definitely go see these. I love the Science Museum!
