How do we stop this insanity?

Damn the oil barons.

In America we have an organization called Earthjustice, which is based in San Francisco. Join their outfit, and you get all kinds of newsletters and emails and quarterly updates for the low price of 20 $ US a year. They fight with lawsuits to stop bad legislation, and bleeped up laws, in favor of earth and human environmental issues.

They may have an office in Canada, so it may be good to wise up, if you are a Canadian, and enquire as to joining.

The Mother Jones magazine covered the oils sands issue in an article recently as well, within the last year or so. It is a dangerous way to extract oil from shale sand it causes tons of problems.

Not to mention the cancer rate is off the charts up there in Alberta, amongst Native and Canadian populations.The fish and wildlife also are seriously compromised by this inanity.

As the recent stats show certain energy companies have had record last quarter profits, for 2008, so what gives as to more greed, here?

A boycott over the spring to summer transition is needed here. Winter is needed to finish, and then we can block oil and fuel use, in vehicles, home appliances in using less gas: (dryers, heaters, small yard tools, lawnmowers, etc.)

Take the gloss off of the profit there.

Demonstrations? Petitions? Calls to the AH who represent us?

OUR PLANET IS NOT DYING.

OUR ability to LIVE on this planet COMFORTABLY is diminishing. We'll die out like the dinosaurs if we fuck up our environment, but the planet will be JUST FINE.

It's been through a hell of a lot worse than some excess carbon. Hell, global warming won't even be as bad as older warming periods. And plenty of life thrived in those eras.

You're not an environmentalist, you're an ex-christian who forgot that the apocalypse is a FAIRY TALE.

Thx for putting this up Bob, yes, WE need to slow this thing down till it ends. WE CAN do this by creating more solar, wind and real renewables and of course raising awareness as well as a little hell. Right on Bob!

Greed Kills. And so does addiction. And the addiction to oil is killing us all slowly. Obama is supposedly slated to go to Canada regarding a climate treaty, and Harper wants the emissions from these oil sands exempted from it. What Obama agrees to on this will speak volumes on where he truly stands on the environment.

Canadians are just as stupid as americans.

If the possibility of money is there they will kill and destroy anything.

It is sickening.

The oil sands should be left alone, NOTHING good will come from exploiting it.

Canada is on a terrible path. Canadians need to wake the fuck up.
