Skin has changed color in human lineages much faster than scientists had previously supposed, even without intermarriage, Jablonski says. Recent developments in comparative genomics allow scientists to sample the DNA in modern humans.

Not long ago it was thought 10,000 years to transit the hues. Adifference of 7,500 years. DNA cutting through theory is pretty impressive by any standards. Cool.

Uhm...ya think? Whether we're talking about 1,000 years or 200,000, all of our families' skin tones were originally dark, dark brown.

Ultraviolet Light And Pregnancy
Because women build babies in their wombs, they need more vitamin D to produce extra calcium for the baby’s bones. Could that explain this difference: When scientists look at the underarm skin of men and women in every color group of humans, the women on average are always lighter than the men. Are the ladies lighter to produce a little extra Vitamin D for the babies?

Having understood this, how can anyone call white people colonialists? We're all migratory animals, and most white people were black or semitic before they were white.

I realise this is important for social and racial reasons, but scientifically, that's really amazing, I had no idea skin could change colour without intermarriage...

This post makes me happy. The fact that everyone isn't aware of this is insane. We're all the same. All looking for the same basic things.
Skin color just makes the picture of our world much more beautiful.

it's so sad that some people just refuse to believe this.
all of our families, without exception, were originally single-celled organisms. we're all just a bunch of organic beings with a short time on this earth... so get over it, bigots!

Both my parents were doctors. As a child I learned that what we call color based skin color racism is a sad joke.
The darkest people on earth who live in south India, migrated there from just north of Iran at the time of the early Greek period and were originally Caucasians.
