The light from these 600 mirrors heat water, turning it to steam which is used to drive a turbine and generate electricity. The plant is the first commercial solar station in Europe, generating 11 Megawatts according to it's operators, Solucar. This is set to rise though, as the plant is not finished - thousands more mirrors will be added to the 600 already installed.

    • It would be nice if people would simply try to expand their narrow minds and recognize the simplicity of logic. This is currently alternative energy that can supplement the existing grid until those times arise when science enhances the engineering of building more efficient and productive variations. The sun is up - use the free source. The sun goes down - supplement the grid with tidal, geothermal, wind and conventional sources. Imagine every roof top in the world with it's own solar array for electric and hot water.
