We cannot be both Drug Free and Free - Dr Lester Grinspoon

UN Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs 1961

The Single Convention was the first international treaty to prohibit cannabis. Bangladesh means cannabis - the people centered their lives on the plant. This law help created the famine a decade later

In recorded history there have been no known deaths or harm
attributed to marijuana use, except maybe coughs.
Yet our beautiful country, with 5% of the World's
population, houses 25% of the prison and jail inmates.
The Greatest Generations' Longest War, born of racism and fed
by ignorance and lies must end.
President Raygun warned of MJ health damages, saying,
"We don't know what they are yet, but we know that they are permanent."
First, thanks to Hearst's Yellow Journalism, we were told that smoking MJ
made you a murderer. Then it was squacked that it drove you mad.
Then the buzz wuz amotivational syndrome. Then it grew
tits on males and made one impotent. Brain damage, mental illness,
lung cancer, where will the lies end. We can all agree though,
that prohibition breeds deception, corruption, violence and death.
You can not tell me that you're a civilized country if you are
incarcerating individuals for smoking marijuana... that's barbaric.
-- Vancouver City Mayor Larry Campbell

Wake up and stand up.It is in the inherent nature of human beings to yearn for freedom, equality and dignity.Brute force, no matter how strongly applied, can never subdue the basic desire for freedom and dignity - The Dalai Lama

    • 1937 Marihuana Tax Act

The Act did not itself criminalize the possession or usage of hemp, marijuana or cannabis, but levied a tax equaling roughly one dollar on anyone who dealt commercially in cannabis, hemp or marijuana. It did, however, include penalty provisions and a complex Regulation 1 codifying the elaborate rules of enforcement marijuana cannabis or hemp handlers were subject to. Violation of these procedures could result in a fine of up to $2000 and five years' imprisonment. No stamps were issued. This tactic was used a decade earlier for machine guns.

    • The difference between a policy and a crusade is that a policy is judged by its results, while a crusade is judged by how good it makes its crusaders feel - Thomas Sowell

    • Racketeers who developed a billion-dollar illicit drug-industry, using opium that had to be smuggled into the country, should have no difficulty at all in developing a five-billion-dollar racket with marihuana - provided only that the press can be induced to stimulate curiosity by giving the drug publicity

    • Among the greatest harms of 'marijuana' prohibition have been the radical food insecurity and malnutrition that afflict the world, as the result of imposing scarcity of industrial hemp. Because hemp is the only common seed with three essential fatty acids, it s both unique and essential. Unique and essential natural resources have never been within the rightful jurisdiction of any court. Now that global climate change are a widely recognized threat, perhaps the climate-mitigation potential of Cannabis agriculture will be seriously considered - P.E.A.C.E.
