    • I don't think anyone is suggesting we need to rid Earth of carbon. All organic compounds contain carbon. Its the carbon that makes them organic compounds. However, we just so happen to have inundated the atmosphere with record shattering amounts of carbon almost every year in the past 250 years. Carbon emissions at current levels negatively affect the environment. Environmental decline negatively affects human productivity and well being. There are costs for excessive carbon emissions and we aren't paying them.

    • I believe we need some carbon or else how can the earth be good, in fact why can't we take lots of the carbon here and use it to teariform Mars.

Yeah too much carbon is bad for us but too little is bad for us as well.

We don't need carbon taxes, we need carbon balancing

    • Too bad carbon offsets are typically flaunted as an alternative to conservation. Planting trees in Costa Rica doesn't get rid of the carbon emitted by your transatlantic flight. It just puts another tree in Costa Rica where there are plenty, and keeps you emitting the same amount of carbon with a lower sense of responsibility.
