The typhoon of layoffs and slashed bonuses has abated (for the moment) so why are most major companies still leaking money like a sieve?
Any commercial operation that requires real estate pays for utilities. The amount spent is largely set by how recently the existing energy systems have been upgraded. With only a few energy companies supplying power per region, the toll on a company’s bottom line and subsequent toll on the environment can be astronomical.
Ted Bier, President of T.M. Bier & Associates.
If you can use a computer to coordinate heating, air conditioning, ventilation, lighting, and security in a building you can significantly and permanently reduce consumption, make people more comfortable, give them better air quality, and accomplish this overall objective of lowing carbon emissions.
Doing little will get us little. Doing it big, as with the sustainable efforts within our largest corporations, the effects can be enormous.
