Again, I accept the agricultural fact, but all of whom agrees with Janforgore, and Jan herself, are ignoring the simple fact behind George Washington's agricultural fact that he and many others which thinks that blacks are lesser than humans, they KNEW that the slave trade route was still going on, they did have the power to stop it, but they ignored it....All of you sSHOULD aware of this, but in yet, you obviously don't, at least, Jan, you should have mentioned this in your post, but, you are too quick to judge the opposing sides, enough to call them ignorant, before they can get their point completely across, you should really be ashamed of such, but of course, you refuse to listen, to anyone opposing your "facts"

Again, it doesnt matter if each idi not exactly owned a slave, and f they actaully against, they should have abolished slavery altogether, but they did not did they? No.

Maybe you should'nt post something to celebrate of a person who was unjustly to fair treatment, which does pertain to this post, if you of course realize it enough....No one can't be ignorant but you, calling people igonrant, so willingly to attack, than to negotiate, how big do you really think you are?

Metalcookie and Virtual_Will: In fact Thomas Jefferson inherited slaves with his marraige to Martha Wayles Skelton Jefferson.

And again, Jefferson wanted to free ALL men with the Declaration of Independence but Ben Franklin with agreement of John Adams decided against TJ because they felt the southern states would not unite to fight against England in the revolution ifbecause they would feel threatened to lose their chief means of labor at that time.

Keep in mind the leaders of the African tribes were selling their own people to profit for themselves.
And the white ppeople that came here from England initially were slaves to England.
The word slave comes from slavs who were enslaved centuries before the colonies exhisted.

Slavery is an ancient fact. It happened all over the world and continues today in other countries.

Sustainable farming by those of us who don't farm for a living is growing (no pun intended) more popular and many projects to teach children and adults the basics of farming/growing are emerging everywhere. One that I am familiar with is based in my city - "Growing Power" - and it is a truly wonderful thing. Teaching kids the basics and introducing them to the wonders of our mother earth is essential if we are to continue to live on this beautiful planet in harmony with it. Corporate farming and all that goes with it does much to dilute the wonder of sowing a seed, caring for it and watching it become a strong, living thing - there's a humility that comes with the undertaking and wonder and appreciation, too. I wrote some things yesterday about slave owners growing crops...I still hold to what I said...I can not picture any of them with their hands dirty...on their hands and knees...working the land...or clearing the land in the first place...the hardest part of the job...l am sorry that there are some that do not equate the early agriculture in America with slavery...and the early construction...including the Capitol...in San Antonio Texas there are many fine missions...the Catholic church captured Indians and made them lay rocks and grow crops for them..many tourists visit and are amazed by the missions...it loses its luster to me when you realize what went into creating it....but when it comes to agriculture there has always been a form of slavery associated...from the first crops to the present day...when people had ten children...those children worked very hard to plant and harvest...and many people around the world at this very time are sweating in the fields and making a small amount of money....growing the food to nourish the people of this planet is one of the most important tasks ever performed...and only gets more important each day....I just want the ones actually doing the hard work to get some recognition..as far as who had slaves and who did not...it is simple...rich people had slaves...poor people were slaves...it is still the same today...if you allow something really bad to happen and do nothing to try and change it...are you not a little guilty?...because there are many bad things happening today and so many are turning their back to it...and the ones that seem to care and want to bring about change are spending way too much time in arguments on this site....Golden Ruler...Will

Washington, Adams, and Jefferson..did not contribute directly to the agriculture of which you speak of, because it was their slaves, or somebody's slaves that actually did all of the work that has made it possible..

Oh, but does matter not a the slightest of who owns slaves? They all are found slaves to be lesser of a human beings...

Geogre Washington is guilty for still allowing the slave trade route to still continue, that meaning that all of them are guilty....For still allowing slaves...

John Adams never owned slaves, and both Jefferson and Washington thought it an abomination that they sought to end. I wish people would actually read history and stop trying to ruin threads that are in regards to other topics. The topic here is their love of agriculture and how the feeling of freedom that gives extends to the freedom we fought for.

George Washington is not exactly the first presdient of the Untied States, he was the first president, under the constitution...
There were exactly several presidents before him...Also, giving to that meaning they were black, and that means that Barack Obama is not the first black presdient...

As many Presdients in Geogre Washington's timeline were nothing more than haters of the colored..

Back then all of those people were nothing more than religious rejects....

George Washington's name as well as Jefferson's and John Adams's name cannot be praised in glory or honor for such horrible deeds they have committed..

I'd say, 4th of July is truly independece when there arn't slaves to a economy, or war(racial, religious, and hate) for that matter....
