There is Cyberpunk, Steampunk, and now Greenpunk? A new manifesto has been made by Matt Staggs, a literary publicist, for the creation a new speculative movement focused "on characters using and being affected by the use of DIY renewable resources, recycling and repurposing." Could be interesting. I'm wary of manifestos though. It always comes from some guy with a "great idea" crying out into the wilderness "follow me ye thoughtless writers!" They are usually artificial threads placed down on already written premises then hammered in to shape with a brutal editorial hand.
That being said. Greenpunk could be interesting if it is left to grow (dare I say it) organically. This doesn't have to be a dark dystopian vision, it could be a mundane one. Maybe the vision is shiny and perfectly coiffed. That remains to be seen by the actual writers who may take up Staggs call. What do you think?

To see one possible Greenpunk variant, read the original Greenpunk story "It Isn't Easy Being Green" (www.ontheblob.net/beinggreen.html.)
